EDUCATION:A health-related or relevant subject area Bachelor Degree from a recognized university.Preferred Education: In addition to the Bachelor Degree, commencement of or commitment to a postgraduate qualification related to emergency/trauma medicine, public health, statistics, bio statistics, bioinformatics or epidemiology.EXPERIENCE:Essential Experience: 3 years experience in healthcare including exposure to research for a minimum of one year; either as part of educational programs, or during professional employment.Preferred Experience: 2 years experience in health-related research with experience in quantitative and qualitative applied research skills and methodology development and data analysis.LICENSE:Not applicable to this post.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Fluent in English - Oral and Written.Job SpecificationPosition SummaryWorking under minimal supervision, this position will provide a broad range of expertise in complex research related activities in support of emergency medicine research project outcomes.These academic activities will include independent project design requiring substantial background research, grant writing and submission coordination, detailed ethical reporting, ensuring project governance and compliance, direct research activities as directed by senior research staff and other ad-hoc duties as requested.The academic research associate will be responsible for the coordination of multiple research projects being conducted in Emergency Medicine department.Principal AccountabilitiesThis position will contribute to the emergency research program by performing a broad range of research related tasks which may include any of the following:? Prepare complex and detailed documentation (e.g. grant applications, research and conference papers) requiring literature reviews and/or analysis of existing and project data? Autonomous coordination of research projects including the design, maintenance and use of complex electronic and paper based information systems, project data bases, internal and external websites and participant and other recordsDesign of sensitive data collection processes resulting in maintenance of extensive data records, logs and provision of reporting for research projects? Independent analysis and manipulation of research data using complex statistical software such as: SPSS, SAS, Stata, NVIVO and any other specialist products? Conduct of experiments including preparation, sampling, data collection and analysis and preparation of results and reports? Maintenance of any laboratory equipment and materials including the disposal of waste and ordering of supplies? Continuous engagement in development of activities and protocols in area of expertise through liaison with staff and peers, funding bodies, reading relevant literature and attendance at meetings and seminars and other training opportunities? Compliance with organizational and funding body policies, procedure and protocols in relation to the nature of the research being conducted? Other duties as required within the scope of the classification of this position Specific Responsibilities? This position will be responsible for delivering the above mentioned common tasks in the specialist subject area of Emergency Medicine.? The position may be required to work evening and/or night shifts and travel to other campuses
