Job Description

JOB CONTENT To plan, direct, and monitor all production activities within an assigned area or unit to maximize the use of the organization?s resources and meet established production specifications and schedules; volume, cost, and wastage targets; and quality standards.FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Schedule and control the production process as per the customer orders / requirements and product specifications while ensuring cost-effective, high quality and timely delivery of products.
• Lead and direct the production staff to achieve performance standards with regard to production targets, quality, safety and time utilization.
• Follows the approved budget for the department and controls expenses within the scope of the approved budget, investigates/corrects budget variances and drives to optimize operational efficiency.
• Devise processes to monitor lead times, lot sizes, BOM?s and labor constraints to support master production scheduling.
• Follows progress of production, anticipates or investigates major causes of delays, and ensures that corrective action is taken; render technical advice to Supervisors, Technicians / Machine operators; perform process setting if needed and personally direct the production operations.
• Prepares and updates the Standard Operating Procedures for the department and ensures strict adherence of all staff upon approval from the Operations Manager.
• Monitor quality of products manufactured and ensure all non-conforming products are being controlled.
• Maintains a continuous review of schedules, methods standards or other production factors and makes effective recommendations for continuous improvement to achieve higher quality and volumes in short time at optimum cost levels to maximize production efficiency.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss about production status and ongoing problems, analyze root causes and define resolutions.
• Ensure that all production areas and equipment are held in good repair and condition and that all production area upkeep is maintained at all times.
• Ensure that all documents and records are fully up to date and that both record and product traceability and retrieval is upheld at all times and that all processes, procedures & activities comply with ISO and management procedures.
• Ensure efficient collaboration & co-ordination between relevant departments including planning, maintenance and business development teams and work congruently to achieve the common objective of the department.
• Direct observance of safety precautions to operating personnel and ensure that the safety and security of all personnel and facilities are kept paramount at all times; identify potential hazards and suggest safety measures in coordination with the HSE team.
• Actively monitors industry trends, equipment and process innovations, and emerging technologies and creates initiatives to capitalize on new opportunities.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in trade shows and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

• Manage the effective achievement of team objectives through setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing & training staff and providing formal and informal feedback in order to maximize overall performance and team motivation.
