Provide on-site engineering services to the Project Manager or Offshore Construction Superintendent to assist in the achievement of project objectives, according to the plan/procedures developed by the engineering project team
Work in staff with the Offshore Construction Superintendent and report to him
Perform all tasks assigned by the Offshore Construction Superintendent, in direct contact with the Offshore Construction Assistant, the master and the chief engineer
Monitor construction/installation etc. progress to ensure acceptable quality of vessels operations
Perform methods of installation when required in offices
Perform maintenance methods when required in the offices
Utilise the electronic daily progress report to monitor and record the actual vs planned activities
Verify sub-contractors performance and assess their operation performance
Liaise with the project personnel and on board responsible to ensure smooth job preparation and field operations
Ensure the application of project engineering in the construction activities
Liaise with Client technical representative for all engineering matters
Perform all possible technical verifications on field
Knowledge of the technical issues related to the installation of cables, flexibles and umbilical and capability to develop a logical and step by step procedure for their installation accounting for the various available equipment and their technical and operational limits.
Knowledge of technical issues related to the load-out, transportation and sea-fastening of offshore cargos and capability to develop a logical and step by step procedure for their securing accounting for the various available equipment and their technical and operational limits.
Knowledge of the physical principles and the main equipment to grant the station keeping of offshore construction vessels and capability to develop the most appropriate procedure and select the most suitable equipment for meeting the minimum operational requirements.
Knowledge of the technical issues related to the completion activities (AWTI, underwater tie-ins, riser and spool installation, stalk-on, etc.) of rigid pipelines and capability to develop a logical and step by step procedure for their execution accounting for the various available equipment and their technical and operational limits.
Deepwater subsea installation activities during preparatory phase and project execution in compliance with project and Company procedures.
Flexible installation activities during preparatory phase and project execution in compliance with project and Company procedures.
Capability to handle subcontracted engineering work packages defining the scope of work, the milestones and documentation deliverables. Capability to control the quality, the costs and the timing of the subcontracted activities ensuring the compliance with project scheduling and goals and with contract requirements
Capability to analyse the behaviour (response and strength) of the pipeline during the various steps of the installation sequence. Capability to check the pipeline strength subject to static and dynamic loads.?Ability to analyse both the effects of the vessel movements - due to waves, currents and wind - and the effect of current loads on the pipeline. Capability to establish the optimum setting of the lay barge configuration (S-lay ramp, j-lay tower setting).
Capability to establish sea state conditions limits for safe operations.
