The Student Financial Services Specialist provides a variety of technical and administrative assistance to the Director of Financial Aid in the allocation and administration of student financial aid. Responsibilities * Carry out various day-to-day departmental administrative functions including but not limited to answering phones and serving as a department point of contact, ordering office supplies; maintaining appointment calendars; screening incoming mail; setting up meetings; photocopying; and similar duties.* Assist in completing and processing forms* With training, compile all required forms and other documentation needed for Director?s to review.* Prepare documents for electronic and/or manual processing.* Prepare communication for educational partners and other constituencies.* Review documents for accuracy, completeness, status for communication to outside agencies including lenders.* Maintain a variety of general and specialized and other manual records.* Perform a variety of data entry and information retrieval tasks using computerized information systems.* Compile information from computerized and manual records for various internal and external reports.* Successfully navigates internal organization structures in support of a ?one-stop-shop? student experience.* Act as support of Director with projects and other functions as assigned.* Maintains knowledge regarding financial aid options.* Training will be provided to add and improve existing skills for:+ Application processing+ Understanding loan applications+ Compiling information for reporting+ Maintaining knowledge of federal regulations+ Maintain Student Financial Services files * Other duties as assigned Qualifications High School diploma required, Associate?s Degree preferred, plus one year of experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired. * Good typing, filing and other general office skills.* Good reading, writing and math skills.* Good administrative skills.* Basic advising skills.* Some relevant experience in maintaining a moderately complex manual and computerized information system.* Ability to understand and explain to others technical regulations governing student financial assistance programs.* Ability to deal effectively with students, parents and other University personnel, frequently regarding sensitive and confidential financial matters.
