Senior Human Resources Generalist | |Position DetailsPosition Information Position Type Professional Staff Faculty Track Position Title Senior Human Resources Generalist Employment Status Full Time Months 12 Campus Biddeford, ME Description Working closely with the Associate Vice President of Human Resources (AVPHR ) the Senior HR Generalist position a trusted resource and business partner to others and responsible for having a general knowledge of multiple HR functional areas, applicable policies, procedures, and legal compliance to positively impact change. The position will serve as a strategic consultant and advisor to senior leaders, supervisors, faculty and professional staff with a focus on delivering value added guidance and partnership to ensure best-in-class HR practices across the university. Responsibilities * Deliver HR support on a full range and complexity of HR challenges and opportunities in an ever-changing environment as well as identifying and developing continuous improvements in HR processes and align HR support models to match business and employee needs.* Act as a consultant to departments to help meet objectives and collaborate to develop creative solutions.* Partner with supervisors to provide employee relations support including coaching, counseling, conflict resolution, management of grievances and fair and consistent management of situations requiring corrective action and performance management.* Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations when needed.* Research, answer and follow-up on daily inquiries from employees and managers on policies, procedures and HR processes.* Perform initial intake and perform analysis for compensation requests, position reviews and provide guidance and input on proposed department restructures, workforce and succession planning.* Assist with writing job descriptions, classifying jobs appropriately, and working with managers to facilitate job re-leveling and promotion processes, including compensation recommendations* Helps department leaders and managers identify developmental opportunities for their teams to ensure the success of individuals and the team and that they possess the appropriate knowledge and skills to effectively fulfill their duties and responsibilities.* Work closely in the recruiting/onboarding process.* Provide daily hands-on support in the planning and implementation of the new and ongoing HR programs, policies and procedures, projects and initiatives.* Assist in the delivery of various training programs.* Assist with projects and other duties as needed and serve as backup to other HR functions.* Research emerging human resources trends within higher education and the community at large that have a potential impact on the University; develop reports, presentations, and strategic recommendations in response.* Maintain an in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring compliance.* Act as an ambassador leading and supporting diversity & inclusion initiatives.* Serve as Title IX deputy.* Serve on working groups and committees as needed.* Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor?s degree in business or other appropriate discipline, plus five to ten years of relevant administrative experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. * Broad based experience as a Human Resources generalist with a broad knowledge in a variety of human resources disciplines.* Preferred experience and knowledge in:+ Talent acquisition;+ Organizational development;+ Employee relations;+ Project management. * Working knowledge of HR practices and processes in an academic environment a plus.* Possesses expert analytical skills to provide direction for HR practices and procedures, conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.* Ability to effectively summarize and present information* Demonstrated expert knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of functional area and understands how work affects other areas in Human Resources and the organization.* Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion* Ability to persuade, convince, influence, and gain the buy-in of others* Ability to effectively coach, deliver constructive feedback, inspire and develop staff* Demonstrated experience in group presentation and facilitation.* Experience and high degree of competence in supervision.* Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of University personnel, job applicants and others outside the University, frequently regarding sensitive personnel matters.* Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.* Highly developed analytical, active listening and critical thinking skills.
