Post-Doctoral Research Fellow | |Position DetailsPosition Information Position Type Professional Staff Faculty Track Position Title Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Employment Status Full Time Months 12 Campus Biddeford, ME Description The Post-Doctoral Fellow will work as part of a research team supervised by the PI, Dr. Ben Harrison. Incumbent will perform directed and independent research on the study of intracellular mechanisms of neural plasticity. The Post-doctoral Research fellow is required to possess a mind-set for collaborative research and will be encouraged to develop an independent research program. They are expected to present work at international meetings. Fellows will also analyze data and prepare results for publication. Responsibilities * Perform experiments independently with the mentorship/supervision of the PI. * Planning and performing both in vivo and in vitro experiments; * Mastering common and study-specific laboratory techniques identified by the PI; * Developing new laboratory techniques/research tools as identified by the PI; * Troubleshooting experiments or techniques; * Keeping clear and detailed experimental notes; * Analyzing and graphing data; * Preparing poster, Powerpoint presentations and grant application as appropriate; * Assume lead role in manuscript preparation; * Participate in grant proposal writing; * Perform other duties as assigned. Help to train/teach/supervise new lab members or other personnel as directed by the PI. Qualifications The applicant must have a PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, neuroscience or related field. * Must have primary authorship of a peer-reviewed research paper. * Have innate curiosity and the ability to work in a highly collaborative open-lab environment. * Must have experience in at least two of the following techniques: RNA / protein assays (PCR , Western blot, etc), rodent surgery, proteomics / genomics studies, in-vitro cell/tissue culture, confocal imaging, and ELISA . * Excellent communication and collaborative skills. * Practical research experience in the laboratory or field. * Ability to design and carry out projects in consultation with supervisor. * Ability to work independently to devise novel experiments. * Ability to use common software for data analysis, presentation and publication. * Ability to analyze, present, and publish results. * Desire and ability to learn to master new techniques and new software as research tools.
