By unifying communication channels, messaging apps, and chatbots, Unifonic streamlines conversations at every touchpoint throughout the customer journey.Senior Value Added Services (VAS) EngineerThe Engineering Team at Unifonic is looking for a Senior VAS Engineer with IT operations experience who knows how to code, and who also understands how to keep the lights on in a large-scale SMS environment. In this role, you will be part of the Value Added Services team to bridge the gap between development teams and operations teams. This will enable the development team to bring new software or new features to production as quickly as possible. While also ensuring an agreed-upon acceptable level of IT operations performance and error risk in line with Unifonic?s service level agreements (SLAs) to its customers. The successful candidate should have strong experience in VAS systems, and they should have great communication skills.The responsibilities of the Senior VAS Engineer include but are not limited to:

• Analyze logs of SMS environments.
• Tune performance of SMS infrastructure and software components.
• Apply patches to SMS infrastructure and software components.
• Test production SMS environments.
• Respond to incidents, and conduct post-mortems.
• Spend the rest of their time developing code that automates the tasks above.
• Ensure high availability of the company?s products, and platforms [24x7x365] including but not limited to SMS infrastructure and software. components, in addition to assessing emergencies, providing analysis, and recommending solutions.
• Write and deploy scripts in different environments to automate day-to-day operations.
• Maintain servers? configuration, monitoring jobs, and infrastructure documentation across the cloud environment (AWS, Azure, etc).
• Work extensively with the offshore teams and network of partners on a daily basis.

• Hands-on 5+ years of recent technical experience in Professional Services/Enterprise DevOps/SRE role in SMS (Short Message Service/SMS GW and Anti-spam) telco industry.
• Strong technical skills and proficiency in multiple functional areas are required; such as infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation/Terraform), container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), configuration management (Ansible), programming language (Python, Java), logging system (ELK), CI/CD (DroneCI, Argo CD) and Telecom Network Protocol SS7 Protocol, (SMSC/SMPP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, TCP) protocols and standards.
• Hands-on 2+ years of Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS experience in Production.
• Hands-on 2+ years of experience with ELK and Prometheus observability stack.
• Hands-on 5+ years of traditional infrastructure experience in Production on virtual machines as mentioned further but not limited to Linux, SQL/NoSQL database administration, message brokers, etc.
• The ability to spend substantial time interfacing with the offshore teams on a daily basis.
• Fluent in English with excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.

• Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or other IT-related field.
• Strong sense of ownership, critical thinking, and ability to drive DevOps mindset initiatives across teams for agile release.
• Analytical thinking and being accountable for the results of made decisions.
• Preferred certification: CKA, CKAD, CKS, AWS, Docker, Linux.
