  • Responsible for all manner of legal support for Visa operations in the Visa NALPs region
  • Monitoring regulatory developmentsand advising on impact thereof on Visa and Visa partners in the subregion
  • Provide advice and counsel to business line and management on transactional legal matters and proposed corporate actions and projects
  • Draft, negotiate, and review a broad range of commercial contracts and other legally binding documents. This also includes development of template/standard documents or adapting U.S. and CEMEA Hub documents to local requirements
  • Provide advice and counsel in the interpretation and enforcement of contracts
  • Lead review of marketing materials, public relations and corporate communications
  • Own regulatory support and evaluation of how shifts in regulatory landscapes may impact Visa and its partners
  • Accountable for advice and counsel in the drafting, interpretation, and enforcement of Visa By-Laws and Visa Rules, including issue spotting for legal issues with respect to product risk assessments, Rules proposals and subsequent client communications
  • Review externally facing documentation for compliance with securities laws, disclosure policies, data use policies and requirements, competition law issues etc.
  • Manage various internal processes related to new business initiatives
  • Where required, coordinate and supervise outside counsel for timeliness, cost-effectiveness, and excellence of service and work product
  • Be a trusted and reliable member and partner of the CEMEA Legal team, by collaborating with team mates across the region to ensure consistently high standards of the team. A strong team player mentality is required
  • Make a direct and positive contribution to Visas value equation that is clear, prompt, and commercially relevant within the framework of a detailed understanding of the companys business operations and its strategies.
Qualifications
  • Law degree and qualification which allows for in house practice in the applicable jurisdiction
  • 10+ years of legal experience-law firm and/or in house
  • Role to be located in Cairo, Egypt, Will consider Morocco for an exceptional candidate
  • Fluent Arabic speaker required, fluent French speaker preferred
  • Transactional background (corporate, commercial arrangements) with significant experience drafting and negotiating a wide array of commercial agreements
  • Knowledge of privacy and competition laws
  • Demonstrated ability to drive execution in a team environment, integrating legal advice and business knowledge while providing balanced advice regarding risks and benefits
  • Developed business acumen, with ability to understand the companys business interests and anticipate the nature and magnitude of issues that could arise in various settings
  • Practical and proactive problem-solver, confident, mature, calm under fire, with a positive attitude
  • Strong work ethic for a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to multitask and manage a significant workload and a number of clients with minimal supervision
  • Some limited travel may be required
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.Additional InformationVisa is an EEO Employer.
