Job Description

Position Summary:This exciting program changes perceptions of disability and increases opportunities for university students with disabilities. The Disability Officer will follow the model established with the pilot universities, coordinating with university leadership and center staff to follow the work plan and timeline. Activities include attendance of trainings on disability and management with center staff, monitoring of university activities and deliverables and providing feedback and coaching as needed. The Officer will ensure strong management and policy structure for each center, establishment of a strategic plan, and implementation of activities to achieve project objectives. The Officer will report to the HEI Program Deputy Director. The project will end in September 2024.Responsibilities:? Oversee the establishment and development of disability centers at the five public universities.? Support Deputy Director on the screening and hiring of trainers.? Communicate and coordinate with the trainers on logistics for all the planned activities, attend trainings, monitor activity implementation, advise and support trainers, review performance and provide feedback to deputy director, document achievement of training objectives.? Monitor budget, spending, and cost-share for the five centers.? Work closely and collaboratively with disability center staff to ensure the success of the disability centers.? Support in universities selection to establish disability centers inside their campuses.? Monitor the project actuals against the budget, including sub-recipient spending, and report quarterly on progress and projections.? Monitor progress of the project and report against Monitoring and Evaluation Indicators.? Collect data and maintain documentation of all project activities.? Prepare all required reports.? Network with and create links to other relevant institutions/companies working with disability to share experiences and lessons learned, which can inform project activities.? Visit universities and training locations to build relationships with university leadership and disability staff, advise project implementers and partners, and monitor project activities. Regular travel will be required.The HEI Public University Scholarship Program provides underserved students from across Egypt with high-quality undergraduate education in Egypt, and the skills and knowledge to participate actively and responsibly in their communities and contribute to the economic development of the country. The project has also established disability service centers at five public universities and is expanding to establish 15 more. Sponsored by the U.S. Government, in partnership with the Government of Egypt, the program is part of the U.S. ?Egypt Higher Education Initiative.
