- NPO, Communicable diseases and NTDs (2205460)** NPO, Communicable diseases and NTDs - ( 2205460 ) Grade : NO-C Contractual Arrangement : Fixed-term appointment Contract Duration (Years, Months, Days) : 1 year (Subject to availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need for the position.)Job Posting: Jun 13, 2022, 7:05:09 AMClosing Date: Jun 27, 2022, 9:59:00 PMPrimary Location: Egypt-CairoOrganization: EM_EGY WHO Representatives Office, EgyptSchedule: Full-timeIMPORTANT NOTICE:Please note that the deadline for receipt of applications indicated above reflects your personal devices system settings.OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMMETo provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and other relevant Departments and partners in WCO Egypt, as well as participation in capacity building activities, setting policies and strategies and development of operational protocols, liaison with the MoH and partners at national and regional levels to strengthen the implementation of communicable disease and NTDs public health pogrammes.DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES- Provide technical input to the work program in the area of Communicable Diseases (CDs).- Undertake research, on CD public health topics to facilitate the development and implementation of CD health programmes and activities.- Conduct the implementation of a research agenda on CDs including promoting operational research on cost effectiveness of community-based interventions for CDs.- Monitor work plans andbudgets including resource mobilization for the work programme and follow up onthe implementation of planned activities.- Analyze data of bestpractices s in implementing CD prevention and control strategies and prepare and disseminate information.- Conduct capacity buildingin the area of CD.- Serve as a technicalresource at the counterpart level concerning CD in the country(ies); respond to inquiries and provide detailed and technical information concerning related principles,practices, issues, measures, techniques and procedures.- Participate in community outreach activities concerning the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of CD; prepare and deliver oral presentations; compile, prepare and distribute related informational materials.- Exchange information withcounterparts in technical departments at HQ, Regional and Country Offices, andwith donor and development partners (UN and bilateral) on implementation of policies and strategies related to communicable disease activities.- Review and ensure qualityassurance and relevance of contractual engagements with partners andinstitutions and make recommendations regarding WHOs support.- Perform all other related duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducationEssential: First level university degree in a Health related field (such as medicine, public health, epidemiology)Desirable: Advanced level university degree (Masters level or above) in any of the above-mentioned fields. Postgraduate degree in Medicine/PublicHealth/Communicable Diseases/NTDsExperienceEssential: At least five years of progressively responsible professional experience in communicable diseases focusing on the areas of investigation, surveillance, and control, as well as developing guidelines for implementing disease prevention programmes.Desirable: First hand working experience at the country level.Skills* Knowledge of Egypts situation with regard to Communicable Diseases with good understanding of relevant countrys needs, priorities and policies, along with WHOs policies, practices, guidelines and procedures in the related areas and ability to apply them.* Ability to identify issues,formulate opinions, make conclusions and recommendations.* Ability to review andrevise policies and objectives of assigned program and activities.* Excellent knowledge of Health and safety regulations.* Technical aspects of fieldof specialty.* Public speaking techniques.* Excellent drafting and communication skills.* Commitment to implementing the goal of gender equality by ensuring the equal participation and full involvement of women and men in all aspects of work.* Ability to develop innovative approaches and solutions.WHO Competencies Enhanced WHO Global Competency Model:* Teamwork* Respecting and promoting individual and cultural differences* Communication* Ensuring the effective use of resources* Producing resultsUse of Language SkillsEssential: Excellent knowledge of English.
