Job Description

Specialization:ÿCoding and Web Design orÿtype design - typography - experimental design - design writing - lens based practicesÿJob Summary:To contribute to teaching and learning in the field of Graphic DesignÿAll role holders will have a growing reputation in a combination of teaching and/or scholarshipÿand/or research and/or enterprise, a good understanding of resource management andÿadministration in their own area.ÿ Typically, roles will incorporate at least two areas of focus [We are specifically looking for someone with UI/UX/web design/coding/app design skills.]. Roleÿholders will contribute to income generation and the continual enhancement of the activity,ÿknowledge and values required for internationalizing HE.ÿIn future, at a later date this role is expected to engage actively in applied research and income generation with a particular focus upon graphic design and visual arts.Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Take responsibility for development, preparation and delivery of teaching, learning and assessment both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including module leadership where appropriate.
  2. Contribute to the development, organization and management of the curriculum to include international and intercultural experiences.
  3. Demonstrate good practice in teaching, learning and assessment through the use of a wide range of learning resources and appropriate pedagogic practice.
  4. Ensure that your teaching is informed by contemporary research in the relevant field and develops the ability of students to engage in debate, critical discourse and rational thinking.
  5. Contribute to the wider student experience e.g. through personal tutoring, participation in recruitment, involvement in employability initiatives
  6. ÿReflect critically on your own teaching practice, implement improvements, and engage actively with the quality monitoring and enhancement processes.
  7. Assist with development of external partnerships in Egypt and/or overseas and development of relationships with professional organizations and agencies where appropriate.
  8. Work effectively as a team member, contributing to committees and working groups, and where appropriate supervising or mentoring other members of staff.
  9. Undertake professional development in support of both teaching and applied research.
In future, at a later date to undertake applied research through, as appropriate:
  • contributing actively to applied research groups or communities of practice internally and/or externally.
  • working on externally-funded projects or contracts.
  • assisting with bid-writing or tendering for external funding
  • disseminating research outputs using a range of media. For example: academic publications, external reports, conference presentations, short courses for knowledge transfer, exhibitions, performances
  • developing external networks nationally and/or internationally
  • supervising research students
AND such other duties as are within the scope of the spirit of the job purpose, the title of the post and its grading.Supervision Received: reporting toÿHead of School/Programme leaders / Assistant Professorÿ ÿ .Supervision Given:ÿGraduate Teaching Assistants, Instructors, Research Associates as appropriate.
