Gender specialistPrimary Location: Egypt-Cairo * Coordinate with experts to review curricula and ensure that technical information is in line with quality standards and is presented in simple and understandable language and illustrations. Implementing the projects gender strategy to prioritize womens roles in training, food security, nutrition, income generation, and value-added activities in their communities and families. * Conduct gender-sensitive analyses to ensure that the different needs, constraints, capacities, and priorities of the project target women and men are understood and addressed. * Improved gender mainstreaming in project activities and project management tools, including gender results tracking and gender-sensitive analysis of the data collected. * Utilize consultations with womens groups and other stakeholders in the community to make recommendations on how best to encourage community acceptance of project initiatives and to incorporate best practices into womens economic empowerment * Identify facilitators and assess their training needs and ensure that knowledge and skills gaps are filled through the training of trainers. Ensure that the majority of facilitators are female and that training is provided on gender-sensitive issues. * Follow up with the team of facilitators to ensure application of the FAO methodology and gender strategy, formulation and implementation of training plans, identification of training venues, and timely conduct of training. * In cooperation with local NGOs and rural leaders, supervising the targeted villages, with the majority of the beneficiaries. * In collaboration with facilitators, prepare training reports and submit them to project managers. * In collaboration with the M&E Specialist, ensure that all facilitators provide the weekly work plan with accurate information on field implementation activities. * Create a link between beneficiaries and service providers (eg, input providers, traders, market buyers, financial institutions). * Providing technical assistance to facilitators and beneficiaries to formulate business plans and feasibility studies. * Organizing reciprocal visits to showcase good examples of business opportunities (eg agri-food companies, post-harvest/value-adding facilities, modern market niches, etc.). * Collaborate with the project team to carry out awareness campaigns on gender empowerment, life skills, nutrition, food safety, etc. * Providing visual and written materials necessary for the vision and documenting the success stories and expected results of the projects. * Organizing all field-level events and field missions for FAO and donors, as requested. * Any other duties related to the incumbents field of expertise, as required. * Results Focus * Teamwork * Communication * Building Effective Relationships * Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement * Relevance and extent of experience in working with inter-governemental bodies and multi-disciplinary teams. * Excellent organizational skills; * Good analytical skills with strong orientation to details * Experience in report writing and data analysis * Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to convey and present sensitive issues/positions * Demonstrated knowledge and working experience relevant to Gender. * Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and other stakeholders in a multicultural setting, with sensitivity and respect for diversity. * FAO does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process (application, interview meeting, processing).* Incomplete applications will not be considered.
