MTaPS will collaborate with key RMS stakeholders to design a comprehensive Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) incorporating the core elements of hospital ASPs: hospital leadership commitment, accountability, actions, evidence?based medicine, monitoring and surveillance, reporting and feedback, data?driven decision? making, and education and training. . In collaboration with RMS stakeholders, MTaPS will implement the ASP based on an integrated stewardship model: antimicrobial, infection prevention and diagnostic (AID). The purpose of this scope of work is to hire a senior AMS consultant to provide additional technical assistance along with the MTaPS team to RMS selected health facilities in combating AMR. This scope includes work that will be done at the health facility level in the selected hospitals that will adopt and implement the ASP interventions identified in agreement with the implementing health facility. This work will require a senior clinical practitioner, with expertise in AMS and IPC within the adult ICU setting. The senior AMS consultant will have expertise in capacity building of hospital/healthcare practitioners including provision of hands?on training, coaching, and mentoring.Supervision and reporting responsibility:The consultant will be supervised by, and report to the Country Director of MTaPS Jordan. The consultant will closely collaborate with the activity lead Senior Technical Advisor on a day?to?day basis. Technical guidance will also be provided by the MTaPS Home Office. The consultant will work in collaboration with the RMS and other stakeholders as needed. The consultant will also liaise with other members of the MTaPS country team, relevant MTaPS home office and regional technical staff.Description of Services to be providedThe consultant will undertake the following activities: - Lead the development, review, and finalization of training materials related to antibiograms which are fully aligned with RMS internal policies and in coordination with the RMS AMR committee. Determine the scope and format (PowerPoint slides, written case studies, examples of antibiograms, and other supporting materials) with the RMS AMR committee and MTaPS. - Provide the antibiogram training to senior members of the RMS selected hospital utilizing interactive methods and case?based learning. - Build the capacity of clinicians in interpreting and utilizing antibiograms for strengthening and standardizing optimal empiric antimicrobial treatment, in the event of pending microbiology culture and susceptibility results, and for detecting and monitoring trends in antimicrobial resistance. - In collaboration with the RMS AMR committee, facilitate the development of detailed implementation plans to promote uptake and adherence to antibiograms.Deliverables or Milestones- Training materials for antibiogram interpretation/utilization training. The format and content are to be determined in consensus with RMS stakeholders (PowerPoint slides, written case studies, examples of antibiograms and other supporting materials).(12 days)- Conduct interactive training sessions for antibiogram interpretation and utilization.(4 days)- Detailed implementation plans for uptake and adherence to antibiograms.(5 days)Consultant qualification requirements:* Medical Doctor or microbiologist with a postgraduate diploma in a field related to infectious diseases, infection prevention and control, and/or AMR.* At least 7 years? experience in healthcare settings, including experience in adult ICU settings.* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of AMS programs and interventions in hospital settings with practical experience.* Experience in developing and implementing capacity?building and training activities for healthcare providers.* Fluency in English and Arabic.* Competency in Microsoft office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience working with International NGO?s is a plus.* Familiarity with adult learning principles is a plus.
