BenefitsPulled from the full job descriptionDental insurance Employee assistance program Employee discount Health insurance Life insurance Paid time offJob detailsSalary $13 - $17 an hour Job Type Full-timeFull The Aquatics Coordinator assists in supervising the day to day operations of the aquatic department, including staff supervision, program development, program quality, pool maintenance/cleaning, and safety assessment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Provide exceptional customer service to contribute to positive experiences for all Y Members and guests.* Manage, assess and grow aquatics fitness classes.* Ensure substitutes are secured for staff as needed.* Assure staff certifications are current and on file.* Oversee the Early Childcare Education swim lesson program.* Teach lifeguarding, CPR/First Aid/AED, babysitting and YMCA Swim Instructor classes.* Assist in providing day to day coordination of aquatic programming.* Assist in providing the Aquatics Manager in daily duties and programming.* Assist in scheduling staff to ensure safety and quality program delivery.* Assist in supervising aquatic staff as well as providing evaluation input.* Assist in the implementation of programming. Including, but not limited to aquatic lessons, other aquatics programming, and/or lifeguard as scheduled and necessary.* Assist in training new staff as well as providing ongoing trainings in accordance with aquatics department training schedule.* Act in a supervisory role in case of injury, accident, or illness and in accordance with established emergency procedures.* Provide backup to lifeguards as needed.* Immediately notify a supervisor and maintenance of any broken equipment or unsafe aspects of the pool and/or aquatic department.* Assist in conducting all staff meetings and in-services as scheduled.* Assist in the development and distribution of program information that promote the aquatics department, programs and initiatives.* Support strategic interests of the aquatics department and association as defined by the Aquatics Director, CEO and board.* Ensure that program areas, office areas, equipment and supplies are maintained in a professional, orderly and safe manner.* Comply with all association safety standards and procedures and ensure adherence to state and county standards.* Adhere to and role model all policies, procedures and guidelines of the YMCA.QUALIFICATIONS:* 1 to 3 years of experience and some supervisory experience. Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.* Current YMCA or ARC lifeguard, CPR, AED, O2 and First Aid certifications.* Proficient in swimming and safety skills.* Must pass a water skills test and written exam.* Must be mentally alert to dangerous situations in order to assure the safety of all swimmers.* Able to read, write and perform basic math to complete daily chemical logs.* Must possess strong organizational, computer, and communication skills, written and verbal.* Ability to train swim lesson and fitness instructors.* Prefer trainer level certification in YMCA Swim Lessons: Fitness Classes, Youth & Adult, Preschool, and Child/Parent.* Certification in areas of expertise.* At least one year of experience teaching aquatic fitness classes preferred.
