Job Description

Description: The dual-language curriculum writer supports the creation, revision, and maintenance of the dual-language curriculum by executing assigned curriculum-writing projects, including, but not limited to, K-8 Spanish language arts, 6-8 Spanish social studies, and K-5 dual-language summer learning programs.This position reports to the Dual-Language Coordinator.Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in education or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience teaching in a dual-language program, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and meeting diverse students needs.
  • Proven ability to communicate and work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise in the field of dual language (i.e., experience with Project GLAD, the biliteracy framework, bridging and trans language, etc.).
  • Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication in Spanish and English.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Create curriculum guides that integrate appropriate standards (i.e., Virginia SOLs, Common Core en espa¤ol), opportunities for language development, strategies for biliteracy, and adopted district approaches to dual language instruction (i.e., Project GLAD).
  • Update existing curriculum guides, including standards, pacing, content and language objectives, resources, etc.
  • Translate English materials to Spanish, as needed, to support dual language instruction.
Clearances
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.
Public Health Compliance
  • Proof of COVID vaccination. Exemptions for religious/medical will be reviewed.
  • Must follow safety and health protocols.
