This position is responsible for providing direction and overall supervision of residence hall (246 beds) ensuring that all students live in a safe and healthy environment that is conducive to academic and personal success. It is a twelve-month position to select, train, supervise, and evaluate undergraduate Residential Life staff and provide leadership for a residence hall/apartment cluster of four buildings. Lead/participate in departmental committees and manage administrative and operational functions in assigned residence halls/apartments. Provide services directly to students, such as personal and disciplinary counseling, and social/educational events/activities. Maintain a balance between administrative workload and student interactions. Maintain liaison relationships with other academic affairs and student support offices. Participate in the overall planning and management of the residence hall system.AdditionalRESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:Responsible for the day-to-day operations, management and organization of the student apartment complexResponsible for student life activities within The Oaks Residence HallDevelop, implement, and enforce housing policies and proceduresActively market open rooms/apartments to current and prospective students to always ensure full capacityEnsure that property is safe, clean and in good repairRespond to emergencies and crisis management situations in an appropriate mannerResponsible for hiring, training and managing RA student workers and desk assistantsRespond to questions/concerns from students, parents, faculty, and/or staffOversee and process all student housing contractsWork with Resident Assistants to assess student needs and interests; anticipate and promote educational, cultural, social, recreational, and service programs, which are supportive to the residence community.Manage operational functions for residence halls such as key distribution and collection, damage assessment, reporting and billing, maintenance requests, and hall openings and closings.Serve as facility manager for residence halls including conducting room checks, reporting and following up on housekeeping, maintenance and mover requests.Manage and coordinate all room assignments and changes in the halls and communicate/resolve problems in accordance with established procedures.Develop, oversee and manage the Residential Life budget in conjunction with the Director of Auxiliary Services.Ensure that occupancy is at a level sufficient to pay all operating expenses including debt service bond payments.Maintain necessary records of all financial transactions of the propertyMaintain required office hours and be on call for any emergencies on a 24-hour basis.Inspect the property on a regular basis to ensure the grounds and facilities are well maintainedWork with University leadership on long-term and strategic planning for The Oaks.Other duties as assigned by supervisor or senior leadership.Special Instructions:REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:? Bachelors degree higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field; and a minimum of three (3) years? direct experience in a residential life/housing facility at a college or university.? Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities are required.? Experience working within residential life with supervisory responsibilities.? Self-Starter with ability to promote activities using supervision and leadership skills.? Working knowledge or better of all applications in the Microsoft Office Suite.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:? Master?s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field.? Experience advising student groups.? Thorough knowledge of student development theories.OFFICE HOURS: Eight (8) hours per day, Monday ?Friday 40 hours a week. Additional hours worked as needed.LOCATION: The Oaks Residence Hall.
