Job Description

DescriptionSAIC has an opening for aLinux System Administrator in Huntsville AL supporting the DEVCOM Aviation and Missile Center Chief Information Office (CIO/G6).This is a full time hybrid position with three days on site and two days remote. You must live in the Huntsville, AL area. This position can use an alternate work schedule with every other Friday off.Job Overview:We are looking for someone with an extensive background in Linux who is able to help modernize and automate the existing infrastructure for managing and deploying Linux machines and VMs.Key duties/responsibilities include:

  • System administrator on multiple Linux servers that support the Linux infrastructure for updates, configuration management, authentication, etc
  • Installation and configuration of Linux operating systems on server-class hardware, workstations, laptops and VMware Vsphere virtual machines.
  • Build out DEV/OPS environment running Ansible CFG management and GitLab.
  • Automate Linux builds, configuration, managing and deploying VMs, and STIG checklist creations and management.
  • Maintain repository mirrors for Linux operating system updates for CentOS and Ubuntu.
  • SA for the Red Hat Network Satellite server to provide updates to Red Hat Enterprise Linux workstations and servers.
  • Daily assistance to Linux users with a wide range of problems (software installation/configuration, code compilation, access to
  • Windows and Linux network resources, printers, etc).
  • Troubleshoot NFS and SAMBA shares.
  • Install Linux with LVM and encryption.
QualificationsRequired Education:Bachelors degree with five (5) years of experience; four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.Required Skills:
  • Comfortable working across different Linux distros
  • VM troubleshooting rpm dependencies, patching and remediation.
  • Linux (Redhat, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and RHEL alternative OS mgnt/config
  • Configuration Management: Ansible (Experience with Puppet a plus)
  • Linux authentication: Centrify w/AD and 2FA CAC (Experience with local, LDAP, Samba w/AD a plus)
  • Bash scripting
  • Experience working as an admin in a DoD environment strongly desired.
