Job Description:Kuwait Airways (KU: IATA, KAC: ICAO) is the official national carrier of the State of Kuwait. Established in 1953 as a private company, the airline was initially 50 per cent owned by the Kuwaiti government. In 1962, the government assumed 100 per cent ownership, making it the longest serving, official state carrier operating from the Arabian Gulf Region. Kuwait Airways employs over 4,800 people, and the head office is in the heart of Kuwait City, close to Kuwait International Airport (KWI). Kuwait Airways is recruiting for the role of Senior Engineer, Communications Network . Your tasks will include but not be limited to:?Monitors and maintains data communications lines and equipment connected to KAC mini systems through NCC. Includes monitoring line traffic as displayed on control cabinets and modems and responding to visual or audio alerts of line malfunctions.? Re-establishes down or malfunctioning lines and equipment as alerted by equipment or called in by users to ensure constant revenue producing data communications flow. Includes isolating line in control cabinet and diagnosing fault as being either hardware or soft ware and uses such test equipment as data scopes, headsets and line testers and re-establishes contact through switching or rerouting as appropriate.? Refers complicated system malfunctions to Supervisor, or line outages not repairable in control center to appropriate technical KAC or Government personnel. Follows up on action taken and reports details in shift logbook. Prepares daily reports of system performance covering previous 24 hour period. Includes receiving logs and activity and performance reports, and summarizing for distribution to Supervisors concerned.? Participates in the development, maintenance and updating of equipment, system and user codes and addresses to provide quick reference and establish procedures of efficient data transmission and record keeping. Includes assigning identification codes for equipment such as printers, terminals, and ticket printers and creating addresses, locations and personnel/sections according to established international and Corporation guidelines. Inputs changes on prescribed form for system changes and prepares a monthly report showing changes in configuration, such as addition or deletion of terminals and new or amended codes and addresses.? Assists in Network design and modification to ensure sections provide efficient and effective service at all times and to ensure communication systems are operative at all times to enable worldwide business transactions. Includes developing back-up (i.e. Disaster Recovery) systems, software modification, monitoring system, investigating and recommending modifications.
