1. Conduct special studies and tests to determine cause, type, extent and rate of corrosion in equipment.2. Conduct metallurgical studies and investigations to determine causes and types of metal failure including stress corrosion cracking, mechanical and thermal fatigue, tensile and impact failures, stress rupture, brittle fracture, hydrogen damage due to physical and constitutional changes, cavitation?s and other causes. 3. Prepare reports with recommendations for preventing corrosion and metal deterioration by means of material selection and by means of protective coatings, fibre-glassing, inhibitors, anti-foulants etc. and follows up and monitors action of others in implementing approved recommendations. 4. Analyze data on metals and makes recommendations where alternative metals can be substituted with advantage. 5. Monitor usage of chemicals and inhibitors addition in process units. Advice operations accordingly. Prepare laboratory-testing schedules for this purpose. 6. Estimate service life of equipment based on corrosion rates as needed.7. Manage corrosion related field jobs with the help of Corrosion Technicians.8. Executes the specific inspections on materials, equipment and construction/installation activities on site. 9. Issues the relevant Quality Records and, when necessary, write and send to Quality Control Supervisor non-conformances reports. 10. Control of storage and certification of consumables. 11. Performs qualifications of coating processes. 12. Checks surface preparation. 13. Checks and records atmospheric conditions prior to starting of painting operations. 14. Carries out wet and dry film thickness checks. 15. Monitors observations of the correct coding cycles. 16. Verifies the correct colour-coding and painting. 17. Performs visuals inspections. 18. Performs adhesion testing. 19. Performs penetration testing. 20. Evaluates impact testing. 21. Performs visual checks after blasting.22. Assists in imparting orientation / training to fresh engineers.
