BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE (SUMMARY):The Safety Manager is responsible to the CEO and the Accountable Manager (AM) for the day-to-day management functions of the Safety Management System (SMS). He/she is responsible for the development, maintenance and implementation of an effective SMS. He/she advises the CEO, the AM and line managers on matters regarding safety management and is responsible for coordinating and communicating safety issues within the organisation, as well as with external agencies, contractors and stakeholders as appropriate.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The primary duties of the post holder are detailed below, however this is notan exhaustive list of all duties required and is not listed in order of priority.Managing the SMS on behalf of the AMPerforming/facilitating hazard identification and safety risk analysisPerforming/facilitating safety investigationsDevelopment of safety casesConducting safety auditsMonitoring corrective actionsProvision of advice to the CEO and AM on all safety issuesMaintain a close working relationship with ADAC airport safety; providing assistance and guidance where possible and when requestedChairing regular safety meetings / visits at all locationsProviding periodic reports on the organization s safety performanceMaintaining records, data collection and safety documentationPlanning, organizing and undertaking staff safety trainingProviding independent advice on safety mattersMonitoring safety concerns in the aviation industry and their perceived impact on GAL operations aimed at service delivery
