Job Description

The Lead Process Safety Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining process safety management systems to ensure the safe operation of industrial processes. This role involves leading safety risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization.Key Responsibilities:Develop and oversee process safety management programs in compliance with local and international standards (e.g., OSHA, API, ISO).Conduct process hazard analyses (PHA), layer of protection analyses (LOPA), and risk assessments.Lead incident investigations related to process safety incidents or near misses.Ensure proper design and implementation of safety systems, including safety instrumented systems (SIS).Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.Develop safety procedures, protocols, and training programs for staff.Perform safety audits and inspections regularly to ensure ongoing compliance.Maintain documentation and reports related to process safety performance.Stay updated on industry best practices, standards, and regulatory requirements.Qualifications & Experience:Bachelors degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering or related field; a Master’s or Professional Certification (e.g., Certified Safety Professional) is preferred.18+ years of experience in process safety, risk management, or related roles within chemical, oil & gas, petrochemical, or manufacturing industries.Strong knowledge of process safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA PSM, IEC 61511/61508).Experience with safety analysis tools like HAZOP, LOPA, and Fault Tree Analysis.Proven leadership skills and ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
