Job Description

Marsh is a leading commercial insurance broker. The UK Placement function coordinates placement, product, and portfolio strategy across Marsh UK. This is achieved by working closely with insurers, technology providers and internal stakeholders across multiple client segments and practices. The Digital Transformation of Placement (broking) process and Policy Servicing activities is an essential component of the future placement strategy. This process is ongoing and is unlocking advanced data, revenue opportunities and efficiencies.Role overview We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst to drive the analysis of As-Is core business processes at Marsh, the definition of To-Be approaches, gather requirements for internal and external digital tools and roll out to different business units.The Business Analyst will be part of Placement Operations Leaders team and will report to the Business Project Manager - Digital Placement.If you are an experienced business analyst, if you have strong experience and understanding of insurance, if you have a passion for learning and an aptitude for innovation, and if you have a track record for successful implementation, this opportunity is for you.What can you expect

  • Exposure to a number of stakeholders within Marsh. You will be working closely with UK Divisional leaders and COOs, with Broking and Middle Office subject matter experts, whilst also working with central functions including Product, Marsh IT and Marsh Data Services.
  • You will have the opportunity to have a significant impact on Marsh digital placement strategy, uncloaking advanced data, revenue opportunities and efficiencies.
  • You will drive the mapping of existing processes and To-Be processes for Placement and Policy Servicing
  • You will play a key role in defining and evolving business product requirements for the new Marsh digital tools and their integration with external platforms.
  • You will work with business leaders and experts to roll out new Marsh digital tools and external platforms, which will progressively improve and replace the existing legacy systems.

We will rely on you to:
  • Work closely with the Placement Operations Leader to align delivery with overall placement strategy and prioritization.
  • Act as Business Analyst with responsibility for one or more work-streams within the UK Placement and Policy Servicing Transformation Value Stream
  • Work directly with business stakeholders and subject matter experts across different business units, segments and product lines
  • Running requirements and process mapping workshops and demos of internal and external tools
  • Documenting As Is and To Be processes from the initiation of insurance trading to the handover to back office team for invoicing.
  • Creating user guides, running UAT and providing user training.
  • Working closely with development teams, as well as the testing teams to ensure requirements are clear and understood.
  • Documenting data requirements and field mappings between systems.
  • Support the Business Project Manager - Digital Placement in managing, planning and steering the multi-year journey for Digital placement
  • Partner cross-functionally with Marsh IT colleagues, technical engineers, data engineers and analysts, external developers, technology vendors.
  • Link and collaborate with external parties including technical teams of the trading partners and London market trading platforms such as Whitespace and PPL
  • Remain updated on latest development on trading platforms, insurance market and data standards and relevant technology.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the business requirements backlog
  • Escalate questions or issues to Business Project Manager - Digital Placement and Placement Operations Leader
What you need to have:
  • Strong relevant experience as BA / Lead BA
  • Prior insurance experience, including deep knowledge of the London insurance market
  • Experience on analysis and rollout of a core platform, ideally in B2B context
  • Good understanding of Product Management principles and Agile methodologies
  • Experience in early phase of agile product development - discovery phase, requirements gathering and refinement during sprints
  • Experience in Business Process Mapping using tools such as Visio and methodologies such as BPMN
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills, self-organized, and process-driven.
  • Very strong attention on detail , complemented by an ability link details with the big picture
  • Great team player

  • Experience on API integration.
  • Experience in on insurance broking process (quote and bind) processes in the London Market
  • Knowledge of core digital initiatives in the London Market (market wide initiatives and innovative trading / business models launched by insurers)
