Job Description

Atkins are currently looking for a qualified Transport Planner/Modeller with between 2 to 3 years experience to join our Transport Planning Practice in the Middle East based in Dubai.The candidate will be a degree-qualified professional with a minimum of 2 years of traffic engineering, transport planning and traffic modelling experience. Ideally, they will also hold a Masters qualification in a related field. Knowledge of Middle East and/or International Transport Planning standards and practices is required and transport modelling experience is considered an asset.Job Details:Essential REQUIREMENTS:- Must have a minimum of degree in planning or transportation and over two years related professional work experience after university graduation- Understanding of transportation planning, development / access planning, public transport issues and transport demand theory- Competency in a range of transportation planning skills including public transport planning (rail, bus), transport appraisal and modelling techniques, modal integration principles, public transport operational aspects and metrics, knowledge of public transport modes & technologies- Project experience in the Middle East and familiarity with local trends and transport planning practices and standards. Knowledge of Dubai considered an asset- Practical understanding of the role and importance of transport planning in development access, citywide mobility and assisting peoples needs- Experience in providing the appropriate junction analysis to assist traffic impact assessments- Contribute to preparation of transport planning reports including existing conditions analyses, trip generation, junction analysis and parking assessments- Competence with Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)- Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both written and spoken- Must be able to learn and retain new skills quickly from a variety of sources- Must be able to work with limited supervision- Must be willing to travel internationally- Capable of hands-on use of industry standard transportation modelling software such as VISUM/VISSIM & SATURN- Hands on experience in junction / capacity analysis software SIDRA & SYNCHRO and HCM, or similarBehavioural Competencies:- Highly developed interpersonal skills, such as high competency in listening and communicating- A positive attitude that focuses on improving team work and co-operation at all times- Good communication skills, oral and written, including presentation competency- Ability to work without excessive supervision- Ability for self checking & correction of work- A team player.SNC Lavalins Atkins business is one of the largest multidisciplinary, multi sector engineering design consultancies in the world and is part of the SNC Lavalin Group.As one of the worlds most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies with a leading track record in the defence sector, Atkins are ideally placed to respond to this market. REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications- Degree qualified, ideally Master in Science.Duties & Responsibilities:- This role requires contributing to a variety of transport planning studies including large scale transport master plan assessments, traffic impact studies or multi-disciplinary planning projects in the public and private sectors. This would involve the following responsibilities- Working closely with Project Managers and other Atkins departmental staff to ensure timely completion of the necessary analysis, reports and plans as assigned- Completion of assigned tasks- Adherence to Atkins Quality Manual and Procedures- Coordination with internal design disciplines as well as external stakeholders / statutory authorities- Application of technical competencies.
