Provost, Dubai CampusThe Vice-Chancellor of the University of Birmingham, Professor Sir David Eastwood, invites applications for the position of Provost of the University of Birmingham, Dubai. This is an exciting, challenging and rewarding leadership position in international higher education.The University of Birminghams heritage as Britains first civic university is combined with a compelling and ambitious global agenda. Launching our campus in Dubai is the latest phase of our global mission, continuing our legacy of connecting the brightest students from across the world by offering an outstanding education experience delivered by excellent teachers in a university renowned for research and teaching.Our first cohorts of students are enrolled and in 2021 we move to our purpose-built campus in the Dubai International Academic City, the worlds largest free zone dedicated solely to education. With plans to reach a student population of over 3,000 students, the University of Birmingham Dubai, will also act as a community for our alumni, and a hub for outreach and engagement in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the wider region. Offering foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate and professional educational programmes across a range of academic disciplines, we are proud to be the first Russell Group University to establish a campus in the UAE and to be the only global top 100 university in Dubai. Research at the University of Birmingham has developed knowledge that has impacted our city, region and the world for over 100 years: we will bring the same approach to our Dubai campus, developing research activities and innovations which will contribute to Dubais vision and priorities, as well as those of the wider Gulf region.As our Provost in Dubai, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of all academic activities at the University of Birmingham Dubai campus, you will play a crucial role in developing our high-quality offer whilst ensuring our success in one of the worlds most dynamic, developing and competitive higher education landscapes. You will be responsible for enhancing the student experience, nurturing a research environment and capacity, and developing external networks to support teaching and research collaborations. You will work closely with and to the Provost, University of Birmingham, to ensure consistency and strategic alignment in the development of the campus and its educational and research activity. REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate will demonstrate significant leadership experience within a higher education institution, you will have a successful track record of building effective, long-term, relationships and networks alongside a commitment to world class pedagogy and an internationally recognised contribution to scholarship. You will embody the values and culture of the University of Birmingham, possess a global outlook and the cultural competency to thrive in a diverse community, with the desire to positively and proactively engage with the local agenda.The closing date for applications is noon GMT on Sunday 15th March 2020.
