Job Description

Role SummaryThe Lead Engineer - Primary Design is the technical guarantor of proper performance of design works conducted in his/her field of activity, including committed design budget, deadline and quality in line with customer agreements.He/she plans all design activities, manages detailed execution progress, delivers required engineering documentation associated with concerned activity as per customer specifications, requirement and internal standards.Essential ResponsibilitiesProject Management- scope of work & time schedule- Establish, based on tender and contract analysis, project strategy the list of documents to produce for his/her field of activity- Time delivery mastering- Ensures on-time delivery of design, including Partner documents, to stakeholders with suitable quality- Anticipate and mitigate delivery issues and recommend change- Lead his/her design team- Manage and monitor detailed execution progress and short-term plan- Request from PEM or PM required technical coordination meetings with partners or key suppliers if & when appropriate, to synchronize respective designs- Give necessary input for management / monitoring detailed execution progress and short-term plan- Resources- On monthly basis, measure design physical progress on relevant studies, and provides PEM with relevant data for evaluation of ETTC- Manage design time spent in man hours on relevant activitiesCustomer relationship- Analyse customer technical requirements- Ensure compliance to customer requirements- Represents customer interests in the design decisions at PM request- Support PEM or PM to Manage customer comments- Attend Customer technical meetings, upon PEM or PM request- Support PEM or PM on partners coordination regarding customer technical comments on their scopeDocument & configuration management- Manages & tracks evolution of input data- Track customer comments and answers, along with document resubmission)- Ensures conformance of material with specification & documentation- Manage return status of project documentation (approved, commented, rejected ..)- Tracks & manages identified or potential deviations- Manages evolution of customer requirements & associated impactsDesign expediting- Participates to issuance of technical specifications and basic document to enable procurement of main items and plant detailed design- Prepares and or coordinates elaboration of document, calculation, Simulation, to validate technical options proposed to the customer- Looks for cost optimization in all design phases and mainly during basic design- Ensures technical consistency of design area and associated performance level- Obtains or provides support to insure compliance to technical "state of the art" and applicable standards & regulations- Checks documents- Provides technical assistance to sourcing upon request- Prepares subcontracting files (Scope, Deliverables, Inputs, Schedule)- Checks design subcontractor deliverables- Proposes review meeting with subcontractors- Contributes to OMM & As-built issuanceProcess & Tools- Deploys Engineering tools (CAD, PDM/DMS,) as per strategy- Consulted for the elaboration of the Project Design review plan- Propose co-engineering platform with partners when relevant- Integrate EHS requirements based on project Strategy, and deploy HAZID (Hazard identification) sessions at different project phases- Apply Design subcontracting process supported by PEM or PM- Implement KPIs defined on engineering process for medium set project- Issue nonconformance reports (FAT, Site)- Manage nonconformance reports upon issuanceSourcing & Procurement, Supplier/Partner management- Support Sourcing and Procurement in the definition of the Suppliers list according to the project strategy- In line with general time schedule, participate to elaboration of supply request : specification & BOQ- Manage technical interface with sub suppliers & partners, prepare input data , check consistency- Request for technical coordination meetings with partners or key suppliers if & when appropriate- Follow design subcontracting process- Ensure the technical follow up (review, comment, approval) of the suppliers documentations- Interface with Construction REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications/REQUIREMENTS:- University degree in Electrical Engineering- More than 8 years of project engineering experience within the EPC sector with with Transmission & Distribution industry focus.- Working Experience in EHV/HV for Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) projects (direct and developer projects) and familiar with their standards and process; DEWA approval is a strong advantage.- Familiar with project technical management processes, preferably in a multi-disciplinary teams context with multiple interfaces- Experience in managing subcontracted design work package- Willingness to work in different locations for short or medium period and to travel worldwide.Desired Characteristics:- Strong Oral and Written communication skills in English- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills- Working Knowledge in AutoCAD/ REVIT and BIM.- Knowledge of Engineering tools and software (like Cyme Grig.
