Job Description

The Kitchen Technician will manage and repair all LPG/Electric supplied kitchen appliances, refrigeration equipment, including cold rooms and walk in freezers.Hotel Overview:Ideally situated on the Arabian Gulf in Ajman, UAE, the Fairmont Ajman has opened May 2015. The hotel close proximity to both Sharjah and Dubai airports. The hotel features 252 guestrooms and suites, including two luxurious penthouse offerings, a multitude of dining options and fitness facilities. The beachfront location offers guests a wide range of leisure activities including water sports and diving as well as access to shopping and cultural excursions. Event planners can take advantage of 2,000 square meters of indoor function space as well as outdoor facilities.Summary of Responsibilities:Reporting to the Assistant Engineering Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly serviceEnsures all work follows safe work practices and fire proceduresResponds immediately to all work requests which concern Health and SafetyEnsures environmentally friendly practices are followed when handling chemicals and refrigerantsResponds to guest requests promptly in a professional and courteous mannerMaintains and repairs all kitchen equipment and related appliancesEnsures the optimum performance of all kitchen equipment by effectively following the preventive maintenance and the shift readings programsEvaluates and appropriately responds to equipment usage and energy efficiencyCompletes all work orders with due diligenceMaintains a daily log book highlighting problems and solutions; and activitiesMaintain all kitchen shop drawingsMaintain equipment catalog and tagging directoriesActively participates in the monthly departmental meeting by providing feedback and offering suggestions for improvementMaintains health and safety documentation and records for the assigned areaReports and documents potential safety hazardsParticipates as directed in the emergency response team REQUIREMENTS: Qualifications:Previous experience is an assetMinimum High School graduate with a related technical or trade certificationMinimum 2 years experience as a service technician in hospitality industryProficient in appliance and refrigeration repair and maintenance plus basic knowledge of one other building operations skill setThe ability to use all general repair tools, read shop drawings and specifications and make rough estimates of required materialsGood communication skillsPhysical ability to perform the assigned dutiesExperience Working in the UAE is an assetMust be a self-starter, who can work independently and will take initiativeMust be creative, practical and have a pro-active approach to problem solvingPhysical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):Constant standing and walking throughout shiftFrequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbsOccasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, liftingOccasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and rampsVisa REQUIREMENTS: Please note that you must be eligible to live and work in Ajman.
