Make a difference every dayThe Job OpportunitySerco has been supporting the Australian Defence Force (ADF) in the Middle East under the existing MELABS contract since 2011. Serco will provide 21 service lines, including catering, waste disposal, facilities and ground maintenance, laundry, transport management, procurement and welfare services in support of ADF bases primarily in the United Arab Emirates. Serco is looking to hire a Kitchen Steward for MELABS contract; the key purpose of this role is to provide effective cleaning and stewarding services for the combined mess on Al Minhad Airbase.Key accountabilities- Assist the Steward supervisor / shift leaders in carrying out all aspects of cleaning and stewarding activities as required - Wash pots and pans as required - Work in plate-wash area as required - Complete general cleaning tasks in kitchen and preparation areas as required - Work on service line as required - Complete cleaning duties in front of house as required - Assist with ration deliveries as required - Assist with set up and service during VIP visits and any functions at external locations within the base - Undertake any basic food preparation as trained by the catering team - Maintain accurate records of temperature control when working on service line - Ensure the equipment is maintained in a clean and hygienic condition Responsible for checking and recording temperatures of all cold storage equipment in the dining hall REQUIREMENTS: What we are looking for in our candidates- Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience in providing cleaning and stewarding services is highly preferableSpecific requirements- Basic methodologies of cleaning and sanitizing - Basic understanding of food hygiene Working with SercoAt Serco, not only is the nature of the work we do important, everyone has important role to play.We are a team of 50,000 people responsible for delivering essential public services around the world in areas including defence, transport, justice, immigration, healthcare and citizen services.
