Job Description

Job Summary:The Pediatric Nurse, as integral part of the multidisciplinary ICRC Health team, serves in the pediatric unit as well as in the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units (NICU and PICU) of Tripoli Governmental Hospital, promotes and ensures high quality of care that meets national and international standards. The qualified candidate should have a bachelor?s degree/diploma in Nursing or equivalent, a valid license to practice in Lebanon, to be a member of Lebanese Nursing Syndicate, and a minimum of 5 years of experience, including 3 years of experience practice in in pediatric unit, NICU and/or PICU.General Description:S/he is representing the ICRC in the TGH pediatric, NICU and PICU units ensuring in smooth and efficient cooperation with the TGH Team, quality nursing care and continuum of health care. S/he supports, coaches and builds the capacity of TGH pediatric, NICU and PICU departments health staff in their specific and general nursing care, meeting departmental goals and ICRC objectives. S/he contributes to a capacity and training strategy including SOP?s, guidelines, rules & regulations and promotes their practical implementations to improve the clinical management of patients.Objectives and Tasks:Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures smooth and efficient cooperation with the relevant ICRC and TGH counterparts in the pediatric, NICU and PICU departments and provides relevant support to both internal and external partners including audits, drug calculation, activities on chart or further activities agreed on with the TGH pediatric, NICU and PICU Head Nurses.
  • Promotes and ensures high quality specific and general nursing care and clinical management meeting national and international standards in the pediatric, NICU and PICU units, following ICRC?s nursing guidelines and in cooperation with TGH teaching nurse.
  • Promotes and ensures high quality of Wound Management following ICRC and international standards.
  • Establishes a safe patient environment by implementing infection prevention and control measures, hygiene standards and a concept for patient safety regularly audited and updated in the pediatric, NICU and PICU units (eg safe medication administration and drug calculation..).
  • S/he contributes to a safe and conducive working environment in the pediatric, NICU and PICU units, focusing on non-violent communication, even under challenging conditions.
  • Participates in delivering a training/coaching programme to measurably improve the quality of child care focusing on drug calculations, documentation, vaccination calendar, child assessment and identifying changes in children?s symptoms.
  • Follow up on the ICRC patients admitted to the pediatric, NICU and PICU units.
  • Contributes to the pediatric, NICU and PICU capacities and training strategy including monitoring and lessons learnt meeting departmental goals and ICRC objectives, focusing on ICRC criteria.
  • Conduct a weekly case review or educational activity related to a case study.
  • Promotes staff training on the medical equipment available in the pediatric, NICU and PICU units.
  • Supports in the development and the practical implementation of rules & regulations, SOP?s and guidelines to improve the clinical management of pediatric patients.
  • Makes sure that available resources of drugs and consumables are used rationally and supplies are reordered on time.
  • Ensures accurate data collection through the timely completion and filing of all patient/hospital -related documents.
  • Contributes to any other activities, which may be considered necessary by the respective line managers.
  • The employee might be required to work overtime in line with the needs in the pediatric, NICU and PICU units.
  • The employee might be required to work on weekends or public holidays.
Additional Duties:
  • Follows up on all work-related messages and correspondence with relevant contacts and departments
  • Is aware of the delegation?s objectives and has a good knowledge of the ICRC environment in Beirut
  • Collects and shares information to improve the ICRC?s understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends and responses
  • Takes responsibility for their own professional learning and development
  • Can be requested to contribute to any other project or priority request as per the needs
General Duties:
  • Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Understands and adheres to the ICRC Code of Conduct
  • Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times
  • Represents the ICRC in a professional manner at all times
  • Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers
  • Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC
  • May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary.
Job Details:
  • Job Location: Tripoli, Lebanon
  • Working Schedule: Monday till Friday, from 8:00 Am till 4:30 Pm
  • The nurse might be requested to work overtime, weekends and on public holidays. Dependent on the patients needs.
  • Contract Type: Determined Period, 1 year (renewable based on performance and need for the position).
  • Salary Package: 2,037- 3,222 USD (As per ICRC salary scale, salary setting processes will determine fair setting in coherence with the qualifications of the applicant and the requirements of the job)
