Job Description

Job Purpose:The Lead Specialist, EHSS, is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability programs within an organization. This role involves leading a team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, promoting a culture of safety and sustainability, and driving continuous improvement in EHSS performance. The Lead Specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams, engage stakeholders, and provide guidance and expertise to support the organizations EHSS goals and objectives.Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHSS programs, policies, and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Lead a team of EHSS professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure effective program implementation and compliance.
  • Drive the organizations EHSS culture by promoting awareness, engagement, and accountability at all levels of the organization.
  • Monitor and assess EHSS risks and hazards, conducting regular inspections, audits, and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Develop and deliver EHSS training programs, ensuring employees are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their work safely and sustainably.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and human resources, to integrate EHSS considerations into business processes, projects, and initiatives.
  • Provide expertise and support in incident and accident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor EHSS performance metrics, analyze data, and prepare reports to track progress, identify trends, and communicate performance to stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with evolving EHSS regulations, emerging trends, and industry best practices, and proactively integrate relevant changes into the organizations EHSS programs.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other external stakeholders to stay informed of EHSS requirements and participate in relevant forums and committees.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives, including the development and implementation of strategies to reduce environmental impact, enhance resource efficiency, and promote sustainable practices.
  • Coordinate internal and external EHSS audits, assessments, and certifications, ensuring compliance with established standards and facilitating continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to assess EHSS risks and performance of suppliers and contractors, ensuring compliance and promoting responsible sourcing practices.
  • Support crisis management and emergency response activities, including the development and testing of emergency plans and procedures.
  • Drive EHSS communication and engagement initiatives, including the development of communication materials, training sessions, and awareness campaigns.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Masters degree is a plus.Minimum Experience:Min 7 years of experience in EHSS management, with a focus on developing and implementing EHSS programs and initiatives.In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and sustainability principles.
