Key Role and ObjectiveThe principal function of this position:? The Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the overall technical leadership and management of the mechanical team in Yanbu and Khobar offices.? The Lead Mechanical Engineer is to forge and develop a new reputation for quality engineering, innovative and economic mechanical solutions for all FAEC Clients, especially the Royal Commission.? The Mechanical Lead will also be responsible for preparing quality technical and commercial mechanical proposals and for the financial management and performance of all the mechanical design elements of the consultancy contracts awarded to FAEC.? The Mechanical Lead will be expected to lead his team to work with architects and engineers of other disciplines in a harmonious and professional teamwork relationship. He will interact periodically with other teams and work alongside external foreign based consultants from time to time as required.Key Areas of ResponsibilityThe priorities of this role include:? Reports and is responsible to the Chief Executive technically, strategically, tactically and commercially for the development and performance of the mechanical team across FAEC;? Reports to the Projects Director and designated Project Managers for all day to day project issues;? Leads the mechanical engineering team in the preparation of overall concept, detailed design and working drawings, as necessary, for the mechanical design of the buildings or engineering structures following the overall architectural concept where appropriate;? Leads, directs and checks the mechanical engineering team in the preparation of the mechanical models using industry standard software and ensures that the models, load configurations, heat loads, etc and all detailed engineering is appropriate and correct;? Leads the coordination and liaison of the mechanical team with all technical disciplines; eg architectural; structural; electrical; telecom; civil etc to ensure that the mechanical design is optimised such that the building services have no clashes with the structure and other utilities or the building envelope;? Responsible for arranging and managing the mechanical engineering staffing to ensure satisfactory delivery of the mechanical design solutions;? Leads and promotes the continuous improvement of the FAEC Quality Management System in respect of all mechanical engineering work;? Organises the preparation of mechanical engineering presentations internally and externally as required to develop the work stream for FAEC;? Determines whether Client instructions or requests comply technically with the scope of services utilising all relevant information and documentation;? Ensures requirements of the Client?s project management representatives are adhered to in respect of all technical and contractual aspects including comments and ensures speedy and satisfactory closure by the mechanical engineering team;? Provides necessary documentation to enable the Project Manager to discuss any issues with the Client arising from mechanical disputes where necessary;? Ensures all mechanical engineering staff satisfactorily and correctly record all time inputs in the appropriate job codes for time capture for budget and commercial monitoring purposes;? Assists the Project Managers in the preparation of Change Notices on the design scope of work where appropriate and necessary.? Monitors performance of individual design packages and advises the Project Managers and Projects Director of the necessary actions to ensure that they meet or exceed the financial targets for the packages.? Assists the Project Managers and Projects Director with debts and major claims for extra fees.? Deals with any other duties that may be reasonably assigned from time to time by the Projects Director.
