Job Description

CLOSING DATE 10 NOVEMBER 2023.NOTE: Please ONLY apply if you have sufficient experience and skills required as per job description below.Job SummaryTo co-ordinate and oversee all onsite operational aspects of the MPD activities, providing senior responsibility over the MPD equipment and field personnel being utilized. To maintain that the operational activities are executed in line with the confirmed drilling program and to ensure that all Q&HSE and procedural issues are followed as per the documented project requirements.Responsibilities/Accountabilty & Authority

  • Takes the lead to ensure all MPD data presented to the customer is accurate, timely and meets the highest service quality standards possible on the rig site.
  • Co-ordinate and oversee all onsite operational aspects of the project, providing senior responsibility over the MPD equipment and field personnel being utilized.
  • Provides on-site supervision of the MPD Operation including equipment preparations, data acquisition, log generation and Quality Control (QC), and delivery of the services to the customer.
  • Maintain that the operational activities are executed in line with the confirmed drilling program.
  • Ensures that all Q&HSE and procedural issues are followed as per the documented project requirements.
  • Actively participate in the knowledge management system within the segment keeping up with the continuous improvement culture
  • Ensure full compliance with NOV and customers HSE policies
  • Supervise, coordinate, implement, monitor, evaluate and report daily operations, variances and performance against the well program objectives and third-party contracts.
  • The implementation, supervision, and coordination of daily activities.
  • Plan and execute activities as they relate to Oil and Gas Drilling as part of NOVs high performance team.
  • Safe completions of projects within planning cost and time goals.
  • Oversee logistics (equipment, manpower, materials).
  • Communicate with engineering, subsurface teams, and vendors in planning and executing work.
  • Manage onsite operations safely and efficiently, and lead field personnel to deliver the business objectives in full compliance
  • Leads the effort to interface with the Driller and Company Representative to ensure planned operating parameters are within specification of MPD equipment.
  • To oversee equipment transportation during logistical movements to prevent equipment mishandling and/or damage.
  • Keeping records of all field maintenance and communicate both minor and major repairs/maintenance reports with the MPD Operations Supervisor.
  • Ensures all the equipment, personnel, and resources needed to perform the service is available.
  • Co-ordination of both equipment and personnel safety, during the rig up and rig down on each well.
  • Advise and assist with pre-activity safety meetings, as per the Q&HSE guidelines and operational procedures for this type of application.
  • Ensure compliance, and assist the crews implementation, of all Q&HSE procedures during the operational project activity.
  • Ensure each individual person on a crew applies the experience and ability they have, whilst operating the various MPD system components during the project.
  • Assists in the evaluation of individual performance levels of onsite MPD personnel. Assists in training and development of junior offshore personnel.
  • Record the use of the onsite spares and inventory, in accordance with daily consumables utilized during operations,
  • Ensure that relevant records are forwarded, allowing suitable time for the NOV base to establish replacement items

  • Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Adobe) (essential)
  • Ability to interpret process flow diagrams and technical drawings. (essential)
  • Use of rig site reporting systems including remote management systems for day to day reports. (essential)
  • Ability to identify faults and manage such through to resolution. (essential)
  • Strong leadership attributes including ability to manage a crew, delegate effectively, communicate with all at the rig site and have the authority to stop operations and resolve any situation through a dedicated management of change process. (essential)
  • Familiarity with MPD specific software including Autocad, Drillbench, Drillsoft, Safevision etc. (desirable)

  • Previous experience of working in an operational engineering/servicing role within a similar environment. (essential)
  • Must have ample experience in the Oil & Gas Industry inclusive of experience within MPD/UBD/PMCD operations. (essential)
  • Must possess a working knowledge and hands-on experience in Drilling. (essential)
  • Field Engineering/Operations Experience in MPD Wells. (essential)
  • Technical Competency with MPD Operations and Equipment. (essential)
  • Good Surface and Sub-Surface Understanding of Oil/Gas Field Development. (essential)
  • Good understanding of Risk Assessment and Mitigation process. (essential)
  • Experience in drilling HTHP/ERD Wells. (desirable)
Experience/Education/Skill-set Required
  • Candidates with HND/Diploma/Degree in related subject (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical) (essential)
  • Functional knowledge of current flow modelling Software.(essential)
  • 5/10 years experience.
