Transport Economist

Job Description

Employment: Full Time Perform economic evaluations and prepare demand forecasts, analysis of costs and benefits, and estimation of operation costs.Application of mechanisms and methodologies of preparing alternative economic models, in order to permit equilibrium between costs and specification of its priorities according to the results of services, programs, and projects.Knowledge of related methodologies with unspecified aspects in assessment and principles of projects portfolio administration and methodologies of priorities specification.Knowledge of the principles of benefits administration and its achievement.Development of methodologies to show the conformity of plans and decisions of expenditure with the strategic plans. Provide economic analyses and consultations in terms of policies and operational matters.Studies related to macroeconomic, sectoral, and regional relevant to land use and transportation.Assessment of social, economic, and environmental impacts.Coordinate with various disciplines including engineers, designers, and planners on related topics. REQUIREMENTS: QualificationsBachelors Degree in EngineeringMasters Degree in Engineering or Economics is preferredChartered Professional Engineering certification or equivalent is preferred15+ years of experience in Transportation Planning and Economic Analysis in a leadership position at a design, engineering and project management consultancy firmStrong experience in Cost-Benefit analysis, Social Return on Investment modelling, master plans and feasibility studiesStrong experience and track record in dealing with large and complex road projects including multi-modal Transportation Planning projectsGeneral experience in coordinating with other engineering disciplines typically involved in Transportation Planning projectsExposure to global best practices and trends in Engineering and Transportation Planning industrySignificant industry experience within the Middle East is preferred15+ years of industry experience in Engineering, Transportation Planning and Economic AnalysisSkillsStrong project management skillsIn depth knowledge of the Transportation Planning industry and Economic AnalysisSound knowledge of Transportation Planning regulations and design requirementsUnderstanding of international engineering standards and codesMarketing and sales skills and track record in developing relationships with customersExcellent communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and managerial skillsProficiency in spoken and written English, Arabic is an advantage
