The project accountant position is accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating calculate variances, and ensuring that project and invoicing are issued to the client and payment collected on time1. Create project accounts in the accounting system2. Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders3. Authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts4. Review and approve supplier invoices related to a project5. Review and approve time sheets for work related to a project6. Review and approve overhead charges to be applied to a project7. Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management8. Confer with receivables staff regarding unpaid contract billings9. Report on project profitability to management monthly quartlay and yearly 10. Create or approve all project-related billings to customers11. Investigate all project expenses not billed to customers12. Close out project accounts upon project completion13. Compile information for internal and external auditors, as required
