Job Purpose and Scope:Develop criminal and social justice policies and positions for the Society that are consistent with Societys mission and values andthrough various promotion and dissemination activities, help members of the public, community groups, and various levels ofgovernment gain a broader understanding of important criminal justice issues of the day and, as well, to collaborate with appliedresearch, program development, and other initiatives which reflect and promote our policies and positions.Tasks, Duties, Responsibilities: 1) Provide support to and coordinate the reform and public education activities of the Society by:a) Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of criminal and social justice legislation, research and literature in and relevantb) Identifying issues for consideration and preparing relevant background informationc) Developing fact sheets, briefs, submissions and other policy documentation on behalf of the Societyd) Participating in and contributing to reform and research projects of the Society e) Assisting with the development and implementation of strategies that achieve the public education/reform goals of the Societyf) Developing or assisting with the development of project proposalsg) Assisting with the development of the Society?s annual reporth) Assisting with the maintenance of the Society?s library, specifically, up-to-date statistical data and literature relevant to criminal and social justice in the Kingdom2) Maintain liaison with Affiliates/Branches on reform activities and encourage an informed and coordinated approach toreform throughout the Society by:a) Identifying issues of concern to Affiliates/Branchesb) Encouraging and assisting with analysis of local informationc) Assisting in the development of local public education strategiesd) Undertaking training/orientation of Affiliate/Branch and Society volunteers and staff3) Develop and coordinate the Society?s public education and community relations activities, communications andmaterials by:a) Preparing Op-Eds, letters to the editor, press releases, media statements, as needed/appropriate on behalfof the Society in consultation with the Media Response Teamb) Developing media talking points for Affiliate Executive Directors upon request, where appropriatec) Developing and presenting Society positions on reform to community members and to the media4) Provide support to and coordinate policy related committees and coalitions of the Society by:a) organizations, both government and community-based, in the criminal justice sectorb) Engaging in cross-sectoral networking and relationship buildingc) Seeking out relevant collaborative opportunities around policy and public education topics of import to the Society5) Assist in the planning of community seminars and conferences of the Society6) Recording and producing the minutes of the Executive Directors Committee meetings7) Participate in staff meetings, wellness and safety training and other professional development8) Other duties as assigned from time to time by the Executive Director
