Requisition ID:  257677Requisition Posting End Date:  Company Overview Bechtel is a trusted engineering, construction and project management partner to industry and government.  Differentiated by the quality of our people and our relentless drive to deliver the most successful outcomes, we align our capabilities to our customers objectives to create a lasting positive impact.  Since 1898, we have helped customers complete more than 25,000 projects in 160 countries, on every continent, that have created jobs, grown economies, improved the resiliency of the worlds infrastructure, increased access to energy, resources, and vital services, and made the world safer and cleaner.Bechtel operates in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) under two distinct entities: SABCO The Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company, and BSEC The Bechtel Saudi Engineering Company.  With a workforce of over 1,000 employees in the Kingdom, Bechtel manages infrastructure and mining projects for select Saudi clients. Role Overview The SABCO Communications Manager will be responsible for the development and management of a nationwide communications campaign across the KSA.  The Communications Manager will actively promote and market Bechtels achievements across the KSA to the domestic Saudi audience, to the SABCO workforce, and to wider Bechtel employees internationally.  Where appropriate, the role will expand to cover regional developments.  The Comms Manager will report operationally to the President of SABCO and functionally to Bechtels Corporate Manager of Communications.  The position will liaise routinely with all Bechtel GBU Communications Managers in the coordination of messaging. Role ResponsibilitiesThe SABCO Communications Managers responsibilities are to:

  • Develop a comprehensive external and internal communications strategy and plan for the marketing of Bechtels achievements in the KSA.
  • Coordinate with SABCO projects across the KSA to ensure currency on project achievements and developments.
  • Plan and coordinate inputs posted on Instagram, Twitter, Linked In and Facebook for the external Saudi audience.
  • Plan and coordinate inputs posted on Yammer and BecWeb for the internal SABCO audience.
  • Liaise with SABCO Business Development managers to maintain a targeted SABCO (KSA) Stakeholder / Zippering plan, recording all engagements and prompting actions as necessary to sustain relationships at the appropriate level.
  • Engage with such external media outlets as are approved by the SABCO President to maintain Bechtels public profile in the KSA.
  • Coordinate SABCO engagement with external conferences and public meetings, generating such supporting materials as are necessary.
  • Support the development of SABCO presentations, proposals, brochures, and other external outputs.
  • Manage the SABCO communications budget.
  • Disseminate internal communications from senior Bechtel leaders across the SABCO workforce.
  • Liaise with Bechtels Corporate and the relevant GBU Communications Managers to ensure consistency and to gain the necessary approvals before publication.
  • Maintain close contact with selected photographers, graphics and other multimedia producers.
  • Such other supporting activities as are directed by the SABCO President.
 Selection Criteria The successful candidate will be a strong writer in English and Arabic with experience in employee communications in a fast-paced environment for diverse non-manual and craft populations including employees with no access to computers.  Previous duties will have included managing and development of written and electronic communications to support senior leadership communications; safety and quality campaigns; project storytelling; construction updates; and motivational or engagement campaigns.The following criteria are considered essential:
  • Saudi national status.
  • Bachelors degree in a communications / marketing field.
  • Based in Riyadh but able and willing to travel for short periods across the KSA and wider GCC for business meetings and conferences.
  • Excellent communication and presentational skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products, photo / image editing software, and other graphics software.
  • Experience of web design, content production, copywriting, interviewing, and editing.
  • Outstanding organizational and planning abilities.
In addition, the following criteria are preferred:
  • Previous experience of:
    • Communications management for an international company in the KSA.
    • The infrastructure industry in the KSA.
    • Commercial proposal preparation and submission.
  • Previous work or academic experience in the US, UK or Australia.
