Position Title: Shift ForemanReporting: Administrative: Shift Engineer / Operation Manager Function: OperationsJob Family OperationsJOB PURPOSE:To plan and coordinate the plant operation activities during the shift and supervise the tasks performed by the team, in order to achieve planned shift production targets, whilst complying with HSSE and quality guidelines and operational work instructions.Key AccountabilitiesÿPeople Managementÿ? Supervise the activities and work of the team members to ensure that production targets and objectives are achieved and the operational plan is delivered in line with the required policies, processes, procedures and systems.Operations ManagementSupervise the day to day activities of shift operators and manage all plant operating activities (For e.g. interlock checks on start-ups, Shutdowns, emergencies, equipment change over, protection tests, non-routine activities like preservation, acid cleaning etc.) ensuring they are executed in a safe and efficient manner so that the operational area meets required targets.Have a complete understanding of the permit to work system applied to the plant and iIssue and cancel permits to work as per authorization.Normalize the equipment after release and perform necessary testing to check the equipment or system after maintenance.Organise and plan the activities in such a way that work is carried out to the required standard with minimum risk to personnel, machine and materials.Coordinate with all other departments for activities that are related to plant operations during the shift and ensure their timely execution as per the plan.Technical GuidanceAddress issues escalated from operators and provide timely resolutions, where possible, to achieve continuous operations.Ensure regular inspections are conducted during the shift to identify abnormalities, potential hazards or unsafe conditions, and take appropriate actions within the established guidelines to correct the same.Act as the issuing authority, preparing permits to ensure all the work execution requirements are in place so that work can be carried out safely.Maintenance SupportOversee and manage the commissioning and start-up activities in the shift in accordance with the approved operating procedures.Coordinate with Maintenance team during the shift and ensure that any minor / major activities are planned and completed in a safe manner, as per the established plan.DocumentationEnsure plant operational status is communicated both verbally and in writing at all shift change-overs, and that all documentation for the plant activities including the log book and status reports are completed accurately.Health, Safety, Security & EnvironmentMonitor the adherence to all relevant health, safety, security and environmental procedures, instructions and controls so that the safety of employees and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.Ensure that all accidents, incidents or near misses occurring during the shift are properly reported as per established procedures.Manage an emergency during the shift as per the company emergency response plan until relieved by a higher authority, in order to ensure minimum impact of the hazard.Policies, Processes, Systems & ProceduresAdhere to all relevant organisational and departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out to the required standard and in a consistent manner.Continuous ImprovementContribute in the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programmes and projects in line with the organisations standards.Related AssignmentsPerform any other duties wh
