Specialist (Humanities), Examination BoardOrganization: Aga Khan UniversityLocation: KarachiIntroductionThe Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan?s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.The Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) is Pakistan?s first university-led trans-provincial private autonomous examination body for Secondary and Higher Secondary School Certifications (SSC and HSSC). The Board also offers an innovative Middle School Programme (MSP) to help students transition into secondary school through project-based learning.AKU-EB?s primary purpose is to improve the quality of education by delivering high quality and accessible syllabus and examinations across the nation, in accordance with the National Curriculum of Pakistan. AKU-EB?s qualifications are recognized and valued by leading higher education institutions nationally and internationally.The Board was established by the Aga Khan University in August 2003 in accordance with the ?Ordinance CXIV? of the Government of Pakistan.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to:

  • develop quality items of Humanities
  • participate and contribute in item review sessions
  • develop quality exam papers of Humanities
  • actively participate in the development of syllabi, teaching materials and reports for subjects in Humanities
  • actively participate in design/conduct of workshops in Humanities for teachers and students as part of AKU-EB?s workshop program for schools
  • actively participate in the development of middle school projects in Humanities
  • actively participate in conduct of exams
  • publish research work as co-author in a least 1 paper per year
  • complete any official task assigned by the supervisors.
RequirementsYou should have:
  • B.S/MA/MS in Humanities subjects
  • 3 to 5 years of teaching Humanities at SSC and HSSC levels
  • an excellent understanding of/ background of Humanities subjects at the secondary and higher secondary level
  • content knowledge
  • team player in all relevant activities
  • be able to initiate in workshops, classroom observation, research, e-marking and conduct of exams
  • skills of mentorship
  • fluent in Urdu and English, exceptional command of written and spoken English
  • attention to detail
  • committed to working with a very talented academic staff in the curriculum and exam preparation area
  • understanding of how exam can test critical thinking and reasoning skills in students
  • unweaving commitment to the highest quality and integrity in all aspects of one?s work
  • an eagerness to learn about the work of the AKU-EB.
