Job Description

The department is also committed to conducting impactful biomedical research on both communicable and non-communicable disorders, designed to improve the health and wellbeing of communities at large.˙Aga Khan University invites applications for a full-time position of Senior Research Assistant in the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for:

  • setting up and facilitating Histology laboratory teaching sessions for undergraduate medical students including preparation of histology slides
  • assisting in setting up and conducting other lab sessions for undergraduate medical students
  • assisting in preparing buffers and solutions for different labs
  • assisting in training and supporting elective students in research projects
  • assisting faculty in carrying out research projects and in preparing manuscripts, research presentations and grant proposals
  • contributing to day-to-day operations of the lab and prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs) for newly acquired laboratory equipment
  • providing support for lab-related workshops, seminars and training sessions for MPhil, PhD and elective students
  • keeping abreast of latest technology and development pertaining to lab teaching and research.
RequirementsYou should have:
  • a minimum of MSc or MS or equivalent from a recognised HEC university
  • a minimum of two years of work experience related to research and teaching
  • Working knowledge in basic sciences with skills in laboratory techniques
  • competence in the use of quantitative and qualitative tools and software
  • excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • the ability to multi-task several projects and work in fast paced environment
  • proven ability to work well with certain degree of autonomy and function successfully in a team environment
  • proficiency in MS Office.
