Senior PharmacistDepartmentPharmacy ServicesEntityAga Khan University HospitalLocationKarachi, PakistanIntroductionAga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Senior Pharmacist.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for a variety of tasks, which include:

  • ensuring safe preparation, efficient use of supplies, proper storage and distribution of medication through monitoring, maintaining and improving Pharmacy operations.
  • maintaining and updating personal drug knowledge database to ensure accurate provision of pharmaceutical care.
  • assessing drug utilization review, dosage regimen and promote the safe, economic and effective use of medicines.
  • reviewing records of patients to determine the appropriateness of medication therapy.
  • scrutinizing & interpreting prescriptions, dispensing, supervising and ensuring that patients receive the correct medicine in a timely manner, liaising with other Healthcare professionals.
  • ensuring that medicines, including controlled drugs, are stored appropriately in wards and departments, performing stock checks when required.
  • managing acute staff shortages in shifts and provide assistance and oversight to staff.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy/ Pharm D, Master?s Degree in Pharmacy and additional training in hospital pharmacy is preferred.
  • Professional registration with Pharmacy Council of Pakistan.
  • At least 4-6 years of relevant or senior level hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Ability to interpret and understand prescriptions, formularies and their pharmacological actions.
  • Excellent understanding of pharmaceutical therapy, direct patient care, drug administration, health and safety guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of hospital pharmacy services and developing country health system.
  • Teaching /preceptorship experience in a hospital or university department of pharmacy will be preferred.
  • Willingness to work in different areas of the hospital.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
