Senior Manager, Centre of Excellence for Trauma and EmergenciesEntity: Medical CollegeLocation: KarachiIntroduction: More than half of the total burdens of diseases in low and middle income countries are caused by health emergencies. Trauma is one of the leading causes of disability-adjusted life years in the world, affecting especially young bread earners of low-income families. Similarly, epidemics, wars and other disasters disproportionately impacts the poor and most vulnerable in the world.The primary goal of the Centre of Excellence, Trauma and Emergencies (CoE-TE) is to improve health outcomes of individuals and populations affected by trauma and emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, complex humanitarian crises, disasters due to climate change and large-scale epidemics. The CoE-TE will work with AKDN partners (including the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat), global academic and response institutions, governments, private sector and funding agencies to strengthen day-to-day trauma and emergency systems as well as disaster preparedness and response in low and lower middle income countries, especially those where AKU and AKDN is active.Job Role / Responsibilities:Reporting to the Director of the Centre, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of strategies and plans to further the vision, mission, and strategic objectives of the Centre. He/she will be expected to create systems and processes, manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, monitor finances and manage staff for successful implementation of the research/innovation, capacity building, and policy-related activities of the centre. Specifically, you will be responsible for:

• contributing to project design and strategy, ensuring alignment with the Centre?s mission and strategic plan
• offering strategic and technical recommendations and ensuring that all issues are addressed in an effective and timely manner
• ensuring effective communication and collaboration between the Centre and national and international partners
• developing and maintaining national and provincial level partnerships with donors, government, international and local non-governmental organisations and others
• supporting recruitment, supervision and mentoring of staff in the Centre
• contributing to dissemination of centre?s work to external and internal stakeholders
• leading activities related to regulatory authorities
• supporting the Director of the Centre in representation at national, regional and international level meetings.

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:You should have:

• a Master?s degree in a relevant field from an HEC recognised and well-reputed local or international university
• at least eight years of managerial work experience and/or comparable experience at a reputable and relevant organisation
• a combination of analytical abilities with demonstrated operational abilities
• excellent problem-solving skills ? with clear examples of tackling issues that require resolution or solving
• ability to demonstrate sound judgment in managing challenging and sensitive situations
• excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu
• strong organisational, project management, and planning skills
• excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety stakeholders
• demonstrated interest in healthcare and social development challenges is a plus.
