Research Manager, Department of Anaesthesiology Organization: Aga Khan UniversityIntroductionThe Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan?s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.The Department of Anaesthesiology at Aga Khan University is committed to providing clinical excellence in perioperative care as well as the training of future anaesthesiologists. Our team of trained and well-experienced anesthesiologists aims to provide best possible patient care not only in the operation theatres but also beyond it. With current 35 clinical faculty our department is one of the biggest Anaesthesia department in country, our faculty is also involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education and our programs are recognized at national and international level.You will be responsible to:

• lead all field research activities
• create detailed operational plans for all research activities in line with the project objectives
• develop SoPs for project administrative processes and procedures to facilitate standardized practices at all field sites
• recruit and train data collectors as per projects requirement
• lead pilot of research instruments recommends modifications accordingly
• monitoring and supervision of all research activities
• conducting monitoring visits at the field sites to ensure that project activities are in line with the agreed-upon timelines and controls are in place with compliance with university guidelines and policies
• build a strategic relationship with national and provincial authorities about research operations and for approvals
• ensure strong liaison with relevant stakeholders at the national and international level which includes local, federal and national government representatives; community stakeholders and international granting agencies, technical consultants
• represent |AKU team at local stakeholder meetings and forums as required.
• developing instruments for data collection and monitoring
• overseeing data analysis and compilation of reports
• observing, troubleshooting and reporting to higher management with solutions for identified problems for efficient performance
• preparing and updating project documents
• developing Standard Operating Procedures for the project, administrative processes and procedures to facilitate standardized practices
• communicating with collaborators and investigators regarding the project activities
• ensuring implementation of the project according to the timelines
• supervising and monitoring all activities related to the project including field activities
• working closely with administrative staff to ensure discipline, sufficient supplies and optimal staff at the site on a daily basis
• developing policies and procedures for all core processes and continual improvement of services
• liaising with community leaders and project staff at all levels to ensure smooth running of project activities within the settings
• preparing and compiling the study progress reports.

• Masters degree in a relevant field from a well-reputed local or international university.
• 5 years of related work and comparable experience at a reputable and relevant organization
• strong research background/training and analytic skills, ideally in mixed-method approaches.
• excellent organizational, project management, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu.
• strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
• ability to demonstrate sound judgment in managing, challenging and sensitive situations.
• capability to manage field team, work independently and take initiative.
