Research Associate - Pakistan Science Foundation Project, Department of Biological and Biomedical SciencesIntroduction to the Aga Khan University: The Aga Khan University is a private, international university committed to international standards of excellence in teaching, research and service. The development and expansion of educational and thematic researchprogrammes in innovative and relevant basic and applied research will take AKU to the next levelon the international scene while benefitting specific health care needs of Pakistan.The Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences invites applications for the position ofResearch Associate to work on the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) sponsored project Ref No.PSF/Res/S-AKU/Med (524). This is a contractual position for a period of two years.Job Role / Responsibilities:You will be responsible to:

  • provide assistance to the Principal Investigator/Co-Principal Investigator in planning, managing and conducting research
  • project by determining theoretical aspects of problem and selecting method of approach
  • conduct experiments, devising instrumentation and techniques to record and collect test results
  • tabulate and correlating data compiled in research and interpreting the results
  • prepare write up of results, manuscripts of paper, presentation, and research proposals.
Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:You should have:
  • a MSc/MS/MPhil or equivalent degree in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry or Physiology), etc.) preferably with enrolment in MPhil/PhD from a recognised university/institution with interest in medical research
  • experience of post M.Sc/ B.Sc (Hons) research in the relevant field with lab animal handling experience
  • candidates with an experience of flow cytometry and lab animal handling will be at an advantage
  • working knowledge of basic science research with skills in animal handling techniques
  • experience in bioinformatics (not mandatory but would be of an added advantage)
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
