Research Associate (Lab), ACORN-HAI, Department of MedicineEntityMedical CollgeLocationKarachi, PakistanIntroductionThe Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Research Associate, Department of Medicine.This is a grant-funded contractual position.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to:

  • manage day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities Isolate archival, biosafety, biosecurity
  • manage shipment of biohazardous and infectious substances
  • perform real-time data entry into Redcap
  • maintain supplies & inventories
  • sample recruitment, transportation & data collection activities
  • maintain inventory of supplies / personal protective equipment at the field site
  • handle culture and related techniques for antimicrobial susceptibility testing
  • assist in preparing manuscripts & abstracts for publication/presentation as required by investigators, administrators, funding agencies
  • order supplies required for project and maintaining inventory of supplies/kits
  • ensure data quality, data analysis / interpretation
  • smooth operation of the project activities.
RequirementsYou should have:
  • a Master?s in Science in Microbiology from an HEC recognised or reputable foreign university/institution
  • at least two years of related work experience
  • previous experience of bench research in the areas of clinical microbiology, infectious diseases is preferred.
  • good research skills
  • should have training and knowledge of Biosafety and Biosecurity for working with infectious pathogens.
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • good English language competency (written and oral)
  • ability to work independently.
