Research Associate, Department of SurgeryEntity: Aga Khan UniversityLocation: Karachi, Pakistan.Introduction to the Aga Khan University: The Aga Khan University is a private, international university committed to international standards of excellence in teaching, research and service. Its teaching hospital, the Aga Khan University Hospital has been accredited by the prestigious Joint Commission International for achieving the highest international healthcare standards.Brain tumors are responsible for disproportionally high morbidity and mortality due to the aggressive biological behavior of these tumors and the vulnerable location they are native to. In addition to differences in genetic profiles across patients, heterogeneity within the tumors adds another layer of complexity, resulting in the failure of the current one-size-fits-all regimens. We propose developing a comprehensive and automated pipeline - ?Virtual Biopsy for Classification, Outcome prediction and Treatment planning of Brain tumors (ViBCOT)? with the help of machine learning that will combine tumor imaging with gene expression signatures to develop models that will allow non-invasive diagnosis, stratification, and subtyping of tumors as well as predicting short- and long-term survival in these patients. A large training dataset, including significant data representative of tumor epidemiology in our population, will be used to develop robust segmentation and predictive models through the application of deep learning algorithms.Job Role / Responsibilities:You are required to:

• do MRI annotation and image analysis both manual and semi-automated image segmentation using 3D slicer/anyother software for data preparation and AI algorithms
• write research manuscripts including original and review articles for research outputs
• do event planning and management include workshops, webinars, symposiums, conferences for Project presentations, training/capacity-building, and engagement
• oversee pre- and post-award formalities for grant applications i.e., complete checklists and write proposals for grant applications for project augmentation/ expansion
• monitor and evaluate program objectives, prepare a yearly timeline with investigators, and arrange regular project meetings. Document meeting minutes and program evaluation reports and timely completion of project goals, effective internal communication.
• document and present project progress reports. Prepare reports of project funds utilisation and goals achieved. submit reports to HEC when needed for smooth execution of project and completion of HEC requirements
• plan, initiate and execute research publications.

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:You should have:

• a FCPS in Diagnostic Radiology, Neurology or Neurosurgery
• radiology training and research experience (preferably in neuroradiology)
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• excellent organisation skills
• ability to work closely with faculty (including PI, CO-PIs, and external collaborators)
• excellent computer software skills (Ms. Office, SPSS/Stata/R)
• ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
• effective teamwork with other research staff and PhD students
• excellent administrative managing skills and qualities
• ability to work with other departments in both strategic and operational planning
