Medical Officer, Tele ICU ProjectEntityAga Khan UniversityLocationPakistanDepartment:Tele ICU, Dean?s OfficeIntroductionThe Aga Khan University is a private, international university committed to international standards of excellence in teaching, research, and service. Its teaching hospital, the Aga Khan University Hospital has been accredited by the prestigious Joint Commission International for achieving the highest international healthcare standards.Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), Aga Khan University (AKU) has recently signed two Memorandums of Understanding with the Government of Sindh with possible extension as a partnership with the Federal Government, to build capacity of ICU?s in public sector hospitals across Pakistan.AKU/AKUH experts will conduct remote trainings for physicians, nurses and paramedical staff in acute critical care patient management through a set of critical care courses; and will also support physicians working in public sector ICU?s through a tele-intensive care model to guide local patient management.This is a grant funded contractual positionResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for:

  • directly assisting physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals in providing patient care through tele-consultation, with the focus being on performing clinical duties rather than clerical tasks
  • screening calls to determine nature and urgency of inquiry, referring calls as appropriate, and/or scheduling appointments with practitioners; providing instructions as needed regarding administrative and/or logistical procedures
  • collecting, verifying, recording, and maintaining data on clinical activity and/or research; preparing associated reports as required
  • assisting in maintaining the cleanliness and serviceability of facilities and equipment
  • supervising student employees, volunteers, interns, and support staff.
RequirementsYou should have:
  • MBBS degree, one year internship/house job will be preferred
  • at least one year of related experience will be an added advantage
  • knowledge of clinical operations and procedures
  • skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications
  • knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories
  • the ability to interact and communicate with people over the telephone, often in stressful situations knowledge of clinical facilities and equipment
  • good knowledge of healthcare practices and medical lab procedures.
