Medical Officer, Medical OncologyEntity: Aga Khan UniversityLocation: Karachi.Introduction to the Aga Khan University: The Aga Khan University Hospital is a not-for-profit healthcare institute that offers all medical services to their patients under one roof. In addition to the tertiary care hospital in Karachi, AKUH has a network of 4 secondary care hospitals, 30+ Medical Centres, and over 290+ Clinical Laboratories, 30+ Pharmacies in over 120+ cities across Pakistan. In recognition of its high quality and patient safety, the AKUH is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) as an Academic Medical Centre and its Clinical Laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for fast and accurate testing.Job Role / Responsibilities:You will be a member of an Oncology team. He/she will work under supervision of the team?s attending physician and will participate in the overall care and coordination of patients. The additional specific responsibilities associated with the role are listed below:

  • Ward rounds on all patients and coordination of patients identified as ?possible? and definite ?discharges? one day prior. Issuing and placing discharge orders for all patients (after getting the discharge orders counter-checked by senior oncology resident) meeting the discharge criteria.
  • Conducting ward round on patients to evaluate the patient?s condition and the outcome/follow-up of morning orders
  • Ensuring that chemotherapy orders are entered and administered in a timely manner
  • Doing night calls every fourth day (at times alternate/third day) in wards (timings of which are usually from 8 am on the oncall day till 2 pm the next day, however it may be few hours more or less then that depending on the situation of total number of admitted patients).
  • When posted in the clinics, he/she will be responsible for evaluation and coordination of outpatient chemotherapy for oncology patients
  • Will be required to follow up with orders, tests and coordinate multidisciplinary evaluation of the patients
Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:You should have:
  • MBBS degree,preferably with FCPS-I or equivalent, with a valid PMDC License
  • good communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work in teams as well asindependently.Certifications etc.
