Job Description

Position: Medical Officer, Emergency Medicine AKUHEntity: Aga Khan University HospitalLocation: Karachi, PakistanIntroduction:The Aga Khan University Hospital is a not-for-profit healthcare institute that offers all medical services to their patients under one roof. In addition to the tertiary care hospital in Karachi, AKUH has a network of 4 secondary care hospitals, 30+ Medical Centres, and over 290+ Clinical Laboratories, 30+ Pharmacies in over 120+ cities across Pakistan. In recognition of its high quality and patient safety, the AKUH is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) as an Academic Medical Centre and its Clinical Laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for fast and accurate testing.Responsibilities:You will be responsible to:

  • assess patients and perform complete paperwork by filling out relevant form as per the hospital protocols
  • participate in the management of patients under supervision of Senior Residents, Senior Medical Officer, Staff Medical Officer and Consultants
  • ensure that patients are given correct medication/ instruction as advised by the consultant and explain their health care needs
  • continually work towards enhancing competencies in a clinical setting under supervision of consultants and other faculty and staff
  • participate in educational activities, such as Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, where applicable.
  • continuous open and consistent communication with faculty, staff, patients, and their families
  • counsel patients and their families at their level of understanding
Requirements:You should have:
  • MBBS degree and additional diploma in relevant field will be preferred
  • 1-3 years post MBBS related experience including one year House Job
  • a valid license from Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC)
  • willingness to work in shift duties.
