Last Date to Apply:30th October, 2022Employment Type:This is a full-time position.Grade:This is a grade 3 position.Location:This role is based in Islamabad, Pakistan.Flexibility model: HybridAbout the roleTransport Network Planning is one of the most important and strategic function of the Technology division. This team plays important role in planning, designing and optimization of DWDM, IP RAN, Microwave, Fiber Optics, Tower Fiberization and synchronization network which is the backbone to carry 2G,3G,4G and enterprise services across PakistanYour Impactful Goals will include:

  • Planning & Designing of Telenor Pakistan Active & Passive Core Transport Network.
  • Core Transport Network Upgradation & Optimization with leading governance on project delivery
  • Strong coordination with internal stake holders.
  • Effective Vendor management
Your Typical day at work
  • Designing & Planning of Optical Transport Network both for Active and Passive part
  • Optical Transport Network evolution planning and roadmap preparation inline with the network growth and demand
  • Transport Network Optimization for resilience improvement, efficient use of deployed assets and reduce Energy cost
  • Define and measure system performance metrics, perform capacity planning, failure detection and plan mitigation.
  • Evaluation & Trial of new hardware and software features supported by Next Generation Transport technologies in collaboration with vendors/manufacturers
  • Preparation of RFP and tenders for Transport Network domain including Packet Transport, DWDM, Synchronization and FTTx.
  • Prepare Core Transport Network investment (CAPEX, OPEX and CoGS) forecasting and budgeting
  • Manage Financial control for Transport Network Planning including Invoices verification, Purchase Requisition / Purchase Order Issuance and Contracts Management
  • Lead governance for Transport Network Project?s execution
  • Financial evaluation of routine & business critical projects
  • Explore software tools and automation frameworks to analyze, plan and troubleshoot Optical networks and supporting systems.
What we are looking for?Education: Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical/Electronics/TelecommunicationsWork experience: 5 Years+ of hands-on experience with Core Transport Network Planning, Designing & Optimization in multi-vendor environmentPotential Career Path:Opportunities to grow laterally and vertically in the domain.Functional Skills / Knowledge Areas:
  • Extensive knowledge and Hands-on experience with Optical Network (OSP & ISP), IP-RAN, DWDM, OTN, WASON & FTTx
  • Extensive knowledge of Network Synchronization
  • Transport Network Functions and Database Automation
  • Sound understanding of 2G/3G/4G Architecture
  • Experienced with GIS tools (Google Earth, MapInfo etc.)
  • Power BI, Data Analytics and Automation tools
