Job Description

Objective:As a Heavy-Duty Truck & Trailer Driver, your main responsibility is to transport goods using heavy-duty trucks and trailers safely and efficiently. You will be tasked with driving long distances, loading and unloading cargo, and ensuring compliance with all transportation regulations and company policies.Essential Duties:?Equipment Operation: Safely operate specialized tractors or heavy equipment in mining operations, including but not limited to bulldozers, loaders, excavators, or haul trucks.?Material Handling: Use tractors or heavy equipment to move earth, rocks, ore, or other materials within the mining site, ensuring efficient and timely transportation to designated locations.?Excavation and Earthmoving: Perform excavation, grading, and earthmoving tasks as directed by supervisors, contributing to the preparation of mining areas and the extraction of minerals.?Dumping and Stockpiling: Load haul trucks or transport vehicles with mined materials using tractors or loaders, and dump or stockpile materials in designated areas according to operational requirements.?Road Construction: Assist with the construction and maintenance of roads within the mining site, including grading, compacting, and leveling surfaces to ensure safe and efficient transportation of equipment and materials.?Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures while operating heavy equipment in the mining environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established safety protocols.?Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance checks on tractors or heavy equipment to ensure they are in good working condition, including inspecting fluids, lubricating moving parts, and reporting any defects or malfunctions to supervisors.?Communication: Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other personnel to coordinate activities, report progress, and address any issues or concerns related to equipment operation or site conditions.?Environmental Compliance: Follow environmental regulations and best practices to minimize the impact of mining operations on the surrounding environment, including proper handling and disposal of materials and waste.Requirements?Valid CDL with appropriate endorsements for operating heavy-duty trucks and trailers.?Previous experience as a truck driver, preferably with experience in driving heavy-duty trucks and trailers.?Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness (Dover test).?Clean driving record with no history of accidents or serious traffic violations.?Ability to sit for long periods, lift and move heavy objects, and perform physically demanding tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo.?Safety Consciousness: Strong commitment to safety protocols and practices to prevent accidents and injuries.?Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and the ability to read maps and plan efficient routes.?Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with coworkers, supervisors, and customers.?Ability to follow instructions accurately, complete paperwork neatly and accurately, and pay attention to details when inspecting vehicles and cargo.?Dependable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering cargo on time.?Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet business demands.
