Its teaching hospital, the Aga Khan University Hospital has been accredited by the prestigious Joint Commission International for achieving the highest international healthcare standards.Job Role / Responsibilities:Reporting to the Director General, Global Campus Planning & Development, you will lead a diversified team of professionals and be responsible to formulate a clear strategic direction for technical services and processes, ensuring that the Department?s vision; mission and values are upheld, and consistent with Universitys plans. You will be expected to be a positive change agent, having a passion for designing innovative programmes in quality management systems to be more proximal to patient care.Specific responsibilities will include:

  • building strategic relationships with key stakeholders globally and locally and collaborating with and supporting other AKDN partners as and when required
  • evaluating risks, business trade-offs and making changes for the development of optimal business solutions and results
  • determining and designing the analytical framework for projects to include evaluation mechanisms for project outcomes and providing routine updates to project sponsors and stakeholders
  • preparing divisional budget, managing, and monitoring financial and human resources
  • planning, coordinating and leading the initiatives of technical services (e.g. biomedical engineering, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, power generation etc.) as per the set standards to ensure efficient services to users
  • providing support to ensure that expectations of internal and external customers are met while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards
  • reviewing of current processes and systems for further improvement
  • introducing and implementing innovative ideas in order to achieve cost reductions and providing direction, consultation for the implementation of new programmes
  • introducing initiatives and strategies for the recruitment, retention and development of all staff to enhance their technical capacity
  • serving as a role model; providing leadership and problem-solving support to peers, direct reports and to customers in a manner that facilitates the building of strong relationships
  • providing project management and overall facilitation for prioritising, advocating initiatives, implementation of systems and processes that support division s philosophy
  • actively participating in all patient care initiatives and represent AKU at national and international forums.
Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:You should have:
  • a Masters degree in engineering or related field preferably in Mechanical or Electrical from an HEC recognised University
  • a minimum of 10 to 12 years of progressive experience of managing facilities, staff supervision, budget management, training programmes or other related areas in a large multi-size organisation
  • analytical and focused thinking with clearly defined and establish standards by understanding the implications and its impact
  • excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to describe complex ideas in clear and meaningful forms and to present data and information to various audiences
  • excellent technical knowledge in respect of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, power plant, biomedical/electronics etc
  • a successful track-record of managing organisational utilities with a demonstrated credibility and reputation for delivering value
  • an entrepreneurial drive with the ability to work in a dynamic and unpredictable environment
  • the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams both individually and collectively
  • the ability to supervise and work with a group of core staff responsible for smooth functioning of the services to achieve the objectives.
